  • I'm just wondering if the ou distance learning approach would be right. It wouldn't have initially worked for me. I'd have needed the bullying and peer pressure to get me into on time submissions.

Sounds like a difficult decision - what does the £3000 course involve? Could that be modular? Do you think you'd enjoy it?

    Ooh so many questions.....sorry!

OU could be really good because it's very flexible and, I may be wrong, but I think you've longer to complete some courses in case of life circumstances (I've got a 7 year figure in my head, but would suggest you check as it's a while since I looked. DH has banned me from it :) ...)

    Hi Gib and INOD

Well I have the option of the CMI Management Course. It is a level 5 qualification which can be converted to a Level 7 strategic leadership qualification. £2400 for the level 5, then another £1k for the level 7 and I think will be just under 3 years.

The OU is just a certificate in management,

However I did apply for OU credit transfer for an open degree a long time ago, but never started studying. I was awarded 155 credits but it may be too late to use as it was 2003 but again I will call later as although it is distance learning it would mean I could pick and choose my subjects and possibly could get a student loan with nothing to pay yet. (Another call):

    1. Call credit transfer to see if still eligible
    2. If eligible contact student loan people
    3. Call CMI course re. Total time and funding and confirm actual qual obtained i.e. Equivalent to a degree or equivalent level

Feeling a bit woulda, coulda, shoulda...

    Thanks
I'm not sure how that then translates to something else - I will call later to find out. (Update - have just called and it's now too late :-(. So the option is the CMI Management course through the OU or the Postgrad course Or something totally different. Will find out more)

    Update on courses:
Currently looking at two management courses both level 6.
Going to consider which one I can get a student loan for and also if one would allow me to study a masters after if I wanted to.
Prefer shortest time possible and of course the cheapest.

Both are degree level, but are not the quantity of a degree.

Making progress along the study line, good stuff. :)

Ooh your list reminds me to look at my Advantage card points - though I don't use B00ts much as a rule, I have done lately for DS's toe, new make up and half price Xmas presents and make up last December :D

ISA rates are still pretty rubbish aren't they? Good call on the TSB accounts at 5%.

Are you still waiting to change DD's account? :rotfl: Think of the pennies! :D;)
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

Hoping that the one year option comes off. I could do with a quick update at that level.

I get extra points vouchers through from B00ts which are worth using. Just got the nectar adpoints up to 57 this week. Great doing them on the ipad, much easier on a touchscreen.

Yup I must change the ISA to the 5%, but first to tackle DDs account. I overslept the appointment a couple of weeks ago. It's taken this first month to get de-stressed :) so I need to book another :)

  • Thanks Gib. I feel slightly nervous thinking about committing to a student loan, but it seems to be an easy way to fund a course plus the repayments are low (or non-existent if you don't earn).

I am going to think about INOD's advice and have a look at the local college, although I've found it hard to find anyone to look after DD previously - which is why I stopped almost any social activities - I keep forgetting she is now old enough to go to friends or stay at home.

Don't apologise for asking questions - its really appreciated. :)

  • Have watched a Dave Ramsey youtube video today - he's very good and makes a lot of sense.

I've now cancelled our Sky Protect - we've been paying almost £10 a month for almost as many years - enough to buy several boxes.

Hopefully our box won't break for a few months and in the meantime I'll have saved enough to buy another one anyway.

I also phoned BT and have reduced the bill by £6.50.

Have left a message with Sky as I need to remove the multi room subscription, but then have to pay for Sky Go extra, but at least it will cover the planned increase in September (hopefully).

Need to ebay a few items around the house that are just collecting dust. Including DDs bedroom TV and two sky boxes - probably won't get much but at least it can go into the safety fund and mean a bit less clutter. I wonder if I ought to keep one sky box just in case?

Also had an email to say my fuel gift card is on the way - exciting stuff !! (probably not to anyone else though :))
