I've bought a Vodafone pay monthly SIM, but Voda are saying that they can't port my old number to the new SIM until the 9th of April!
if i had known then what i know now
  • I'm also in this boat. Damn Ovivo was perfect for me. I'm such a low user I haven't even missed the closure yet. So after reading the entire thread I'd also like some advice. Here's a list of stuff:
    • I've no need for data
    • I have a Nokia 5000d locked to O2 with a back-up O2 SIM (and their high prices)
    • I'm PAYG on all counts
    • Ovivo phone is unlocked Nokia 6230i
    • giffgaff SIM on the way
    • No Ovivo PAC code yet
    • Tempted by White mobile SIM
    • Looking at £5p/m giffgaff
    • giffgaff £60p/a seems a lot (MSE head on)

A question about the £5p/m giffgaff bundle thing, does my £5 become credit after the minutes and texts are used? I don't think they are but I thought I'd ask. Ovivo's comfiness is clouding my judgement!

Sod's law is a friend who I no longer keep in touch with is on giffgaff.

I like the White mobile idea but is this another too good to be true moment like Ovivo.

Harry Hill could sort all this for me...!

well my white mobile sim arrived today, have ported my numbers over, but will be another 5 days before I can get my old number out.
Have also ordered the Sainsbury's sim and a Kontact sim too may swap but will see how I get on with WM as it's only for low usage
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time

If you have no data requirements and you're happy to pay 3p/min and 2p/text then Three's PAYG could be a good option.

About Giffgaff's £5 goodybag, you won't get the £5 to use as credit as it's used to purchase the goodybag. You'll just get the minutes/texts/data associated with that goodybag.

Cheers. 3 SIM ordered too now. Would 3 work on the Nokia 6230i? I don't know if it's 3G or not or what have you. Also, do 3 do £5 top up?

Edit: and I know it's flat rate (but I'm cautious of small print) so are freephone also 3p p/m?

They do £5 topups but they automatically take £10 when you register your payment card on my3. It never expires tho.

Btw it's not 3g so won't work. Maybe tesco lite or asda might be next best?

I've got a White mobile SIM working happily in a Nokia 6330i. I am a bit cautious about White mobile because obviously they are a much smaller and newer company but so far (since last autumn) its all been fine for me.

I've just ported my family out to Three 3 2 1. Not a bad deal considering the free data every time you top up by £5.
I've not seen the 'free data' bit on their web site ?
is there a link please ?
  • Have finally got my white mobile sims but just cannot seem to be able to top-up on line or register etc, it keeps failing no matter which credit card I use or paypal etc. The customer service is closed now but I also tried to PAC my number over and it would'nt accept any future date I tried to put in on-line - anyone else having problems with White's website??
