If you search this forum there is mention of Topcashback's offer. I don't know if it is true, I just read it on a forum.

I don't agree with your description of MSE. The financial incentive does influence how it behaves in my view. It does lead to risky deals like this being given far more exposure than they should which snow ball into costs for all of us that MSE should pay. That's the only way to balance the money making incentive and ensure it does better checks and does not promote that the public hands over £20 when there is at least the chance punters will be left with nothing.

So regarding TopCashBack, your taking something you have read on a forum and passing it off as fact? No evidence to back it up?

Like others, I think your trolling now.

Bought my sim after Christmas and was doing so well, bought my daughter one too! She has yet to activate it. Does this mean I've lost the £20 for hers too??
It DID seem too good to be true!
Would love to know what REALLY happened. I think they owe that much to us all.

Sorry if I suggested something was fact, I think I did qualify the extent to which the information was reliable.

I was responding to your request for a source.

Reading back I did say 'apparently' so I don't think it's fair to suggest I was trying to pass something off as fact.

People are having success at recovering money via chargeback.

The codes are unique, the only people getting the same PAC codes are people with more than 1 number to switch in one go. Some people have had emails with errors in them but these have been corrected on request.

you are wrong, my pac code is OVI173595 and so is everyone elses' on this board.

Note: you still need to fill out the form with ovivo and get your pac code because they may have to mark it on their end that the PAC is authorised for the number.

A point I should mention, I am assuming MSE was paid by Ovivo for introducing customers but I never checked how the affiliate linked tracked. MSE might actually have been paid by some other link in the sales chain. It's all a sales chain though just often has series of intermediaries.

It could tell us in its article who paid it.

Well the secrets out. MSE does not credit check companies or do any other background checks before referring them,

'MSE is not due to pay anyone money and is no more responsible than any other comparison/advice/news website'

An important fact to understand is that news which is under the control of an editor is not a commercial service.

It is therefore misleading to think of MSE and news websites as if they are the same. They are not. You don't have any consumer rights reading news because it is not a commercial service in itself intended to make money.

    Excuse me....fraud????

Lots of people including myself have paid for something but have either barely received any service (4 weeks in my case for 2 sims with very little use) or none at all for a lot of people.

Paypal will not cover you for this. As ovivo have delivered a working product to you. Paypal disputes do not provide any cover for loss of service etc. Like you just found out when you were stuck on whether to file "item not received" or "item significantly not as described" neither of these apply in this instance.

So if you are pushing ahead and ticking any of these boxes you are committing fraud.

For loss of service, you will have to contact the bank for a chargeback. I just phoned the bank and it's unlikely the bank will help. Bank wanted to know if the £20 was for the sim or service. Look at the image above. The £20 was for the sim. The service charge is £0 - this is what you're entitled for the chargeback.

Important Notice Regarding Ovivo Closing Down

We’ve heard the bad news that Ovivo has unexpectedly shut down as of last night (Wednesday 19th March 2014). Ovivo have cited it is due to reasons beyond their control and if you wish to keep your mobile number you can visit their site to request your PAC code.

While Ovivo was up and running we were offering cashback which we know a lot of you will have been expecting cashback for. As we understand that Ovivo customers will already be extremely frustrated with this situation, we wanted to soften the blow as much as we could for TopCashback members! Therefore, anybody who ordered a sim-card through TopCashback will see their cashback move to payable within the next 48 hours.

Please be aware that this will be paid from our own pocket as we have little idea on whether we will go on to receive payment for this cashback from Ovivo.

We hope this helps to soften the blow a little. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to let us know.
