I think you are reading something wrong, it is showing negative savings for me, more expensive.

yes, just re-posted. i was comparing current prices with the standard tariff from EDF, no wonder it was all coming out cheaper.

Here's the V3 tariff details taken from the Energy Helpline today and it is certainly higher than the tariff I signed up for in March.

    Tariff Details
    Gas Electricity
    Supplier n/a Extra Energy
Tariff name n/a Fixed Price September 2015 v3
    Tariff type n/a Fixed
Payment method n/a Monthly Direct Debit
Unit rate n/a 11.541p per kWh
Standing charge n/a 18.93p per day (£69.09 per year)
    Tariff ends on n/a 30 September 2015
    Price guaranteed until n/a 30 September 2015
Exit fees (if you cancel this tariff before the end date £25.00

Yes, the standing charge cost has reduced by about 3.5p per day but the unit rate has gone up by almost 2p, based on the tariff I signed up for in March (see below)

    Standing charge: 22.47p per day
    Unit charge: 09.72p per kWh

So why are some people on here reporting the cost has gone down when from the above comparison of the first tariff on offer and the latest, it clearly it hasn't!

"Fixed Price September 2015" (no version number) - signed up on 31st March. Monthly direct debit, South West region.

    Standing charge: 23.59p/day
    Unit rate: 12.19p/kWh
    Exit fee: £25

    All inc. VAT
    What are the "v3" prices?!

The prices above (which I'm signed up to) are actually the v2 tariff, just been back through paperwork and it says v2 on the energy helpline e-mail (although not on any of the Extra Energy paperwork itself!)

The v3 tariff for South West region is now standing charge 22.36p/unit price 12.626p. This equates to £5 cheaper annual standing charge and about £25 more expensive annual unit cost (for my usage of 6000kWh).

Rogcal, I think the prices you quote in post 94 are ex-VAT, if you add on 5% VAT they're exactly the same as Violetta's!

    Thanks for that.

    Damned VAT.

Mine has gone from £90 to £40 presumably because they no longer supply my electric and there is a dd due on the 4th before the gas switch on the 8th. I haven't been told either nor have I received any sorry you are leaving us emails/letters.

I got a couple of emails, but they came really late.

The actual letters will be in the messages box of your online account if sent. Perhaps you have an overactive spam email filter?
  • Looks like my swap to EE is happening on Monday.

Would anyone recommend that I play it safe and give a meter reading to EDF in my online account and to EE when asked for it?

I see we now have a Fixed Price September 2015 v4 tariff.

For my area and usage this gives exactly the same overall cost as the v1 tariff.

So we now have had 4 versions of the same tariff in 4 weeks!!

    V4 electric only is 4% pa dearer than my V2, £91.22 v £86.12 pa sc and 13.294p v 12.054p per kWh

According to EnergyHelpLine V1 is the variable tariff and is still available, cheap unit price at 10.689p but an extortionate SC at £210.02 pa / 57.54p per day.

Had an e-mail this morning, yes Bank Holiday Sunday, with my DD payment info - 11 days before the payment is due. The transfer seems to be efficient and on a reasonable time line but the customer is not kept informed along the way.

    The timeline seems to be
    Day 1 - application
    Day 2 - welcome / contract e-mail
4 weeks after day 2 - transfer supply and reading request e-mail
11 days before first DD date - DD e-mail.

How many days before or after the actual transfer took place did you receive this?
