have just entered latest meter readings anyway, don't want to be caught out if i miss my switch date.

I'd contact EDF ASAP as if you have been able to enter a meter reading your switch has not taken place.

Just out of curiosity I just logged on to my old EDF account and tested the system by trying to enter a meter reading and the following was displayed:

"Sorry, but we cannot accept your meter reading. You will need to contact your new Supplier to submit this read"

This confirms that my switch went ahead as scheduled on the 17th.
  • weird, just logged on to my edf account again to see if anything had changed & the 'withdrawal initiated' messages have gone & it looks like a normal account again. odd? have just entered latest meter readings anyway, don't want to be caught out if i miss my switch date.

This has happened to me as well. I don,t know what EDF are playing at or could be normal.

I,ll have to give EDF a ring i think.

strictly speaking, i suppose there's at least another 2-3 weeks before my switch should be scheduled (but others on here seem to have gone though a little earlier than expected), but it is odd that the previous message regarding the switch is now gone.

good idea to give them a call, will perhaps try over the weekend & report back

My EDF account was showing as active when in fact I had switched!!

I just timed my contact right. I was a day late when I called and my account had already switched to Extraenergy

I complained and they claimed it would be escalated to senior management.

I did explain that there were a number of complaints on this forum about failing to keep customers informed.

SO BE SURE TO CALL THEM!

My first payment isn't due to be taken for around 6 weeks after my supply has started. So if your payment has been taken chances are your supply has started.

    Good luck!!!!!

crikey! just come off online chat with EDF, reminded me why i never contact them unless absolutely necessary!

my meter readings had been accepted but no bill produced for some reason, this was sorted 1st & my current a/c balance is £51 debit. there's a DD in a couple of days for £90, so if the switch happens in the next 2 weeks or so, there should only be a small balance to pay/refund.

i advised that i'd seen the 'withdrawal initiated' message earlier in the week, but it wasn't there now, could she confirm new supplier contact? "no switch request received & no message on a/c" was her reply. we went around the houses for a bit with her offering no explanation for the message that was there, then she finally offered to check with another team - why on earth she hadn't done that in the 1st place, typical EDF customer service strikes again...(i did point this out at the end & she did actually apologise for not offering to do that straight away).

anyway, she did finally confirm that an initial switch request had been received. my current tariff ends next week but as the switch has been started, i'll stay on the current tariff until the account closes.

final readings request will (hopefully) come from extra energy & they will advise EDF of these.

we got there in the end i suppose!

i'll call EE next week to see where we are with them, i can't log onto my account yet & no DD has appeared at my bank, so i'm probably a couple of weeks away from switching, perhaps?!

what a performance, when is this process being cut down to a week or something? why can't they do that now?

Having signed up via Energy Helpline on 25th March and received an initial e-mail from Extra Energy on 31st March, today I received a further e-mail from Extra Energy welcoming us to their service which started today (although I did already know this, having rung them last week to find out our switch date following posts on here!)

Have submitted a meter reading via their web-site, and have also submitted the same reading to the EDF web-site as well so they can presumably generate a final bill!

All going smoothly enough so far...

E-mail this morning asking for meter read and telling me I am now supplied by them, 4 weeks exactly from the first e-mail. Still don't know how much and when DD commences. Looks like I will be £10 in debit to EDF when my gas goes over to Zog on 9th which is good.

Looking on my edf account the gas account has gone but the elec is still saying withdrawal initiated. I can now give a reading to extraenergy and they have the correct meter numbers I see. I have given a reading today to both of them. We shall see.... perhaps

I've just noticed that Extra Energy are now promoting a Fixed price September 2015 v3 tariff, which is markedly different to the tariff when I initiated the switch from EDF to Extra energy on 09/04/14.

Will they honour the tariff on the day the switch was requested or are the likely to apply the tariff on the day of the actual switch over?
