With interest rates so low I certainly will not be worried if my account is in credit by £70 and no way would I give up the service so early and pay £50 in exit fees. Bit like throwing ones toys out of the pram.

You may not be concerned if your £70 is held by ExtraEnergy for as long as you are on a fixed tariff deal with them but I'm sure many others on here would not be so happy.

Searching for days to find that special deal to save themselves a few quid only to see some of their hard earned cash sit in someone else's bank account where they can't get it back, would be worrying for them I'm sure!

It's not as though ExtraEnergy are upfront about the fact that they hold onto your credit.

Try to find it referred to in the T&Cs, on their website or any other material they send out.

Incidentally, the "exit fee" as you call it is £25.

As for your "toys of of the pram" comment, I'll treat that with the contempt it deserves.:p

I can't help it if I place great store in my own principles and that of others and if I feel I'm being shafted I'll do something about it!

    Note to ExtraEnergy company rep

Keep people informed of how the switch is progressing !

It seems the standard message is that the new customers do not know what is going on, you do seem to have the information well in advance but are not giving this to the customers. Updates would probably save your cs reps some work, I will be calling at the end of the week if I have not heard from either yourselves or my old supplier (who have already informed me about my gas switch to another supplier). My last switch to EDF gave me regular update e-mails so I was aware that something was actually happening and I had not been forgotten about.
I had to ring to find out my switch date and was told this was normal not to get any updates. I have also been told to ring back on the switch day with my meter readings. Not sure what happens to anyone who dosent ring them..........

The exit fee as you have just called it is £25 per utility.
Perhaps next time you will read the small print more carefully so you do not have to take your vile out on the poor Extraenergery staff who you say are on zero contracts.

I too will treat your post with the obvious contempt it deserves.

    :p

The most amazing thing has just occurred, the Head of Operations at ExtraEnergy has just rung me and the whole matter has been resolved to my satisfaction.

I shall be paying my bill quarterly, for the amount of electricity I use, no direct debit involvement, no annual reviews and most importantly, no money held in credit.:j

    Reeesult!

She did apologise for the breakdown in communications and the erroneous information I had been given which given that it is still early days in their operations is understandable and she openly admitted they are learning from the mistakes they make.

So hats off to her for being honest and open and I for one have had my faith in ExtraEnergy restored.

It's just a pity that it took so long to sort out in the first place but hey ho life would be so boring if we didn't have to fight our own corner from time to time!:)

Hold on a minute Mab, you called it an exit fee in your earlier post and I was just quoting you.

Re the zero hour contracts comment.

Didn't I say "I bet they are on zero hour contracts" and who exactly are these "Extraenergery" staff I'm supposed to be taking my "vile" out on?

I was taking my vile out on the ExtraEnergy staff!

A whole toyshop out of your pram perhaps.

Anyway, why I get drawn into such idle banter as this, !!!!!!ed if I know.

It's not as though I'm trying to build up my level of postings on these forums just for the sake of it and I'm happy with my rating of 0.03 postings per day!:rotfl:

You're 1 step ahead of me then. Nothing in my Nationwide account but have managed to register on the extraenergy account. I got the chance to say when I wanted the dd coming out I recall but as for what........

weird, just logged on to my edf account again to see if anything had changed & the 'withdrawal initiated' messages have gone & it looks like a normal account again. odd? have just entered latest meter readings anyway, don't want to be caught out if i miss my switch date.

Have you not had any sorry you are leaving e-mails or messages in your account ?

Strangely I get a perfectly normal account page but my daughter, who is 1 week behind me in the switch away process and has had a leaving e-mail for gas, only has a "contract tracker" page with "electricity account active" message.
