As my contract finished today with NP I gave them the final meter readings online and then gave EE the same readings via their website this am. Hopefully everything will be ok.

    UPDATE.

I have today received two emails advising they are now supplying both utilities today and requested meter readings. However I did advise them online earlier.

Now all I am waiting for is confirmation of dd payments and my welcome back.

PS. DD payment details just arrived.

Also I just phoned them and their systems are now down at moment and should be working by tomorrow. Also online services still in development and should be working in two weeks. However I told that 4 weeks ago

same as Mable for me too, both gas & elec confirmation of transfer emails now received & email confirming dd amount/date.

EDF have advised it takes about a week for the readings to be received from new supplier (hopefully). this will take it a bit close to my next dd with EDF so i've cancelled it today. as at 28.04.14, last bill & dd taken, i was £36 in credit, so only a few days until 5th to be billed with EDF. no point paying another dd, then having to wait weeks for a final refund.

I considered switching to extraenergy. They came up as cheapest but thought against it for two reasons. New company...give them a bit more time to get on their feet. Second...if you switch via energyhelpline, scottishpower, although a bit more expensive, give you a £80 voucher (which technically made them cheaper...although it will depend on my usage) and have no cancellation fees (Extraenergy is £25 per utility so £50 in total). Just that added layer of security in my mind if I decide to switch again.

For those switching from EDF to another company complaining they were moved onto a standard tariff. I do not think I was ever the tariff policy to maintain your tariff while you switched (after the tariff deal had ended). What this meant was that they made you aware of the tariff changing a month before the tariff end date. You had to switch during this period and they would maintain the tariff at that point.....not after the actual tariff deal ended.

To stop being charged a standard tariff, what I have done with EDF was switch from the ending Blue April tariff to their new Blue August 2015 tariff, as there is no cancellation fee, and then switched anyway.

i had it confirmed in writing from EDF that as the switch was in progress, i'd remain on the current Blue tariff until the switch was finalised, even if this was after 30.04.14.

if this doesn't happen, it's only 7 days that are affected for me, so i won't be arguing the toss (on this occasion!).

I'm not sure about the 1st part as I remember reading somewhere that if EDF are aware of your switch before the end of your tariff then you would remain on it.
The August 2015 tariff wasn't around when I started my switch (unless someone can say the date when it was announced- I have already asked twice) but if it was I wouldn't have switched for the sake of £30 or so.
My gas switch should be tomorrow so I expect the emails but not had any info from EE about the elec switch a week ago.

edit: just seen Abbies reply as I was composing my post.

Regarding ExtraEnergy not passing on meter readings to the company we switch from, they are aware of this happening in a few cases and are dealing with it as can be seen in this email I received earlier today from a senior manager:

"Thanks for the update regarding the issue with meter readings. We had picked up on this issue late last week and believe we have now put in place a technical fix which should resolve this issue moving forward, but we are tracking it very closely to make sure everything works as it should."

I haven't received my final bill from EDF yet. I am hoping EE have passed the readings on as I was too late to supply them to EDF via my online account.

your switch was end of April? with the bank holiday, i think i'd be calling if no final bill received by the end of next week.

Well the plot thickens. Just been called by EE for meter readings even though I sent the gas one this morning when logged in on their website. EDF finishes with my gas today and the electric on the 30/04 according to them but EE say no it is today for both. Perhaps I may get free electric for that week! Note a dd has also appeared but no clue if they will use today (8th) as I requested (nothing has gone out today) nor how much it will be.

I have just done a comparison with Extra Energy and EON for our social club and EE is very favourable in prices although the standing charge is slightly higher than EON. I do have a serious question though. With EON we get a discount of around £25 per quarter on both electric and gas supply for paying by direct debit.

Does Extra Energy do anything similar or is that how they cut their prices?

    Many thanks in advance.
