Does Extra Energy do anything similar or is that how they cut their prices?
Many thanks in advance.0 -
One thing I did find out yesterday was if you join up for dual fuel and you find one of the utilities cheaper at a later date you are free to leave them and the remaining one will stay on the same tariff.
Of course you will need to pay the £25.0 -

If you used a comparison website, they usually take into account any discounts which apply.0 -

I didn't use a comparison website. I was given the unit price and standing charge from a sales consultant. I forgot to ask that question though, it still looks a good deal but now I have to convince the committee. The evening and weekend deal works best for us because of the clubs opening hours. :beer:My names not Bill but I am from Beverley0 -

I think you will find that those on DD are on a lower daily standing charge rate than those paying by bank transfer on receipt of a quarterly bill.
In my own case I changed from DD to payment on receipt of bill and my daily standing charge rose from 22.47p to 36.16p (exc VAT).
Paying by this method costs me an additional £52 a year but allows me to pay for what I use rather than pay an amount that may exceed my actual usage and results in a large credit balance in my account.
Paying by DD gives greater control of cash flow for ExtraEnergy (and most over energy suppliers) and those who pay quarterly when the bill is presented are a greater default risk, so hence the incentive of a lower standing charge for DD payers.0 -
UPDATE
Had email from extraenergy on 01 May to say my electricity had been switched ( no mention of gas ) and submitted my final meter readings. Yesterday ( 08 May ) I rang First Utility , as I have heard nothing from them. I was told they no longer supply me, and had not received any final readings. Rang Extraenergy and was told it can take up to 28 days for final readings to be sorted with previous supplier.
So things progressing steadily. As long as First Utility don't take any more money ( which they shouldn't ) I am quite happy.
My first payment to Extraenergy is on June 02.0 -

Im with EDF Energy Promise.
Just had an email from them telling me Extra Energy would be cheaper for my needs than they themselves are.
Under my scheme, they promise to tell me if anyone introduces a cheaper price.
Checking them out first, had all this before but cheaper isnt always better xVal0 -
but cheaper isnt always better x
How can cheaper be not better ? You are not buying a car. ( bmw versus lada )
This is the same product from different suppliers. It comes down a pipe or cable, end of story. It's not as if the major suppliers have a very good reputation, is it.
I can deal with !!!!!! customer service, if it means being robbed a little less0
