local councils have a discretionary fund - Give yours a ring to find out. It might tied you over. Some foodbanks don't need a referral. CAB might know where your local one is.The Cabbage

this one is a long shot but do you have anything that you could take back to shop for credit note or refund and use this towards things you more urgently need.Teamwork means.......never having to take all the blame yourself0

Its worth getting in touch with women's aid too. Given the nature of the relationship. They will have ideas and support for someone starting out on their own after a DV relationship.Bossymoo

my dentist always has toothpaste samples on the counter when i go in...i'm sure they would let you have some or you could use making a routine appointment as an excuse to pop in perhapsWins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320

Please don't discount the food bank; I can see where you're coming from, no-one wants to feel they're that desperate. But this is an exceptional circumstance, and hopefully now it'll be onwards and upwards for you.
If it makes you feel a little better about it, you could always make a promise to yourself to later on, once you're back on your feet, donate the equivalent goods to the food bank, if you can get something from them to tide you over for the time being.:o
Wishing you all the very best.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
