Can I just say the reason I was left with no money at all was I was in a violent relationship physicall and mental
He wouldn't let me work ,have money,go out infact do anything he didn't agree too.one day it all got to much and I did ring the police and got him out of my life .since then I've had nothing to live of as I wasn't claiming benefits and he worked so hence me not hdvjng anything left over
I have been waiting for a benefit claim to come through which has took it's time to be sorted .i went to the food bank3-4 times and the one near me you can only go 3 times in a month .
Wether or not you believe me or you don't everything I have posted has been true .i am not just sat back waiting for money to appear I check my account yea as I was advised to by cab as dwp is unpredictable
I'm in cab constantly and other places trying to sort all this out
And unfortunately my son is 6 I don't think he could use just water

And I was going to go back to a job I had previously the one my ex made me leave but my gp suggested I take a bit of time to adjust to what's happened and be there for my son who obviously it's a big change for
I never thought I'd be in the situation but I am and I am trying my best to sort it out

  • Please don't feel that you have to justify yourself to people on here. You are doing an amazing job, especially after all you have been through. I hope things start to turn around for you soon.

Natalie - take no notice of the negative comments and don't feel you have to explain yourself.

You came on here for constructive advice so if people cannot give it there is no point in them posting. The last thing you need now is people picking holes in you.

    Cheers.

I have only read the first few pages and the last page so apologies if I repeat things others have said.

I'm assuming your son attends school.. have you spoken to school? I know that they have a budget to help struggling families, or they do here at least.. it isn't much, maybe £5 worth of groceries. They are pretty good.. this will all be impacting your sons education so they will help. Have a word with the Head or the Child protection member of staff.

I know the school helped a lot of families in similar situations to yourself.

Also, even if you do not attend, the local churches are often pretty helpful.. desperate times and all that. We had help from them when my former husband was a student and we literally had not a penny to feed the children.

Well done on breaking free x

  • Natalie you have done really well so far.

Please ignore the negative comments, I don't know why people feel that it is necessary to kick someone a bit more when they are already down:mad:
And for those people who have no empathy, toilet rolls are expensive and people ARE being left without a penny to their name thanks to this damned government

So keep your opinions to yourself if you have nothing constructive to say or have any ideas of how to help Natalie and her son.

I've been reading this thread for a while and just wanted to say well done on everything you've done so far, I can't imagine how hard it must have been for you.

You seem like a great mum. My mum escaped an abusive relationship when I was a baby, and I'll always be grateful for what she did and in awe of her bravery for leaving, and building up a new life for me and her. I'm sure your son will feel the same when hes older.

I hope things keep getting better for you xx

nataliedee - my post this morning was not directed at you love. I know you have been trying anything and everything you can to keep yourself afloat and have been taking everyone's advice on here. And you have appreciated it also.
I actually didn't think you mentioned toilet roll worries, so my apologies if I missed that post. I thought people had been giving you options on that bit trying to save you some more money.

I apologise if you or anyone else thought it was directed at you personally as it wasn't. It was the toilet paper not being a necessity that alarmed me.
