I won't make any efforts to spend money at T's to get these 2 p off for one tank of petrol once a month. I am pleased to announce though that by accident I got a delivery from Sainsbury's on the last day of their scheme and it gave me 10 p offper liter . Shame that one was only lasting for a short time!First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

yes it is a con molerat - there is nothing on the receipt from your shopping to tell you that they only give the discount on petrol in even amounts e.g. 2p, 4p etc as I found out when I tried to get the 5 p per litre off, the odd 1p is added to the next amount of discount you build up, Personally I consider this to be a bit of a con as it is certainly not widely publicised.0

I dont think its a con.
I do my "big shop" at sainsburys. But there is also a local tesco near me where i pop in for milk and things.
The last few times I have been to tesco I have saved 2p per ltr by doing nothing I would not otherwise be doing. I think like any of these things they try to get you to go out and spend more. If you dont go out of your way to spend more then you will be better off by doing nothing different.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. They've paid for the offer by scrapping their old 5p off a litre when you spend £50 in store.
They've done their usual "let's charge 1p more than local competitors that we usually match" trick which happens when they have a fuel offer on.
It's clearly better to have it rather than not to have it. But it doesn't make me feel anymore loyal to Tesco. In fact the irritation over the need to redeem in 2p multiples probably loses me a bit as a customer.
At least you can use it via pay at pump.0 -
Had to go into the next town today and petrol was 2 p cheaper at M's than at the local T's. Not much saving for me if I consider spending a lot extra per month to get 2 p off and the savings run out before they can amount to a more significant lump saving per tank. If you shop there anyway it's better than nothing.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0

Not a con at all.
Over the last few months I've had occasions of 8p off a litre and even once at 12p off a litre! When you're filling up from empty (55-60 litres) that's a decent saving.
Both my gf and I have the same Clubcard account so both contributing to the discount.0
