Anything that encourages people to fill up when empty rather than putting a tenners worth in three times a week has to be good :)
  • Tesco in Stroud is consistantly more expensive than our local Esso Garage. besdies, I would struggle to spend £50 on the shop, though at their prices, it is always more expensive than where I do shop.

Gift Cards included in Fuel Save

I've spotted the Fuel Save sign on the Gift Card stand in Tesco (which includes gift cards for high street shops such as iTunes, Debenhams, Next, Google, etc.). This means that you can buy gift cards for shops you were planning to go to or if you need to give a gift and then save on fuel at the same time. I'm planning to do a big summer shop so I'm heading to Tesco to buy clothes gift cards to save on fuel too. Father's Day is also only round the corner so i'll definitely be using this offer for Dad's gift as well!!

Really? They're always the cheapest around here by at least a penny.

That said, even on a 70 litre tank, 2p per litre saving is only £1.40 even if you drive in on fumes and drive out full. A saving's a saving, but that's hardly worth increasing your spend to get (which is what they're counting on)

typical penny pinching msers missing the forest for the trees.

These threads just annoy the heck out of me.

esso and tesco are on par near where I live. They have some sort of partnership where a lot of esso booths are staffed by tesco employees and they give clubcard points too.

If you shop at Tesco already, and it makes the price of fuel cheaper, then fill up and be happy. Anecdotally people always insist "my supermarket is the cheaper", and a change in buying behaviour always seems to save money? So unless you want to do a comparative shop on every supermarket, compare costs taking into account savings on multibuy options then look at the savings at the pump, compare final costs, have you lost the will to live?

Tesco do the comparison for you- If you believe their adverts they are the only supermarket to do so (Maybe Sainsburys don't do it any more?)

Every week I buy £20 of "2 for one" and "half price" goods.
Sometimes I save as much as 40p compared to buying the sane goods at Asda!

(Now I would expect to save £20 surely if everything is "half price"! It is almost as if the supermarkets agree on prices, but that sort of thing is illegal, so they could never do it)
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Does anyone know why my till receipt dated 30th May shows a fuel saving per litre for June of 5p, but my till receipt just obtained today (4th June) shows a fuel saving per litre for June of 4p.? Why have I lost 1p? Tesco have yet to give me an answer on this one!

You can only use the discount in 2p increments and is collected each calendar month, showing the 1p is obviously to try and push you into spending a bit more to get that extra 2p.
