The seat allocation may be "cost free" (believe it when I see it) but the mobile boarding pass won't be.0 -

Ok - on what basis do you believe that the suggestion in post 269 is correct? Have you (or the poster of 269) seen something that says it IS free please?0

Just to stick my oar in what I can see has been a very long debate.
I booked flights back in February (18th) for a family of 4 from Stansted to Italy with Ryanair.
The actual flights were £436 - within our budget for a cheap holiday. But I also had to factor in 2 checked bags (travelling with children to a campsite means we can't get away with cabin bags) which cost an extra £80 in total. A bit excessive but I just had to swallow that.
May 17th - one week before we are due to fly and I am informed via email that as from April 8th the online check-in system had changed.
This was the first time I had heard of these changes.
Now do you not think that
a) Ryanair should have told all passengers BEFORE they made such changes?
b) They should honour the T&Cs of those passengers who had booked BEFORE the changes were made?
Ok, it's only an extra £20 on top of all the other extras, but it's the principle of the matter - something Ryanair doesn't appear to have.
This is my first experience of Ryanair. Normally I avoid them like the plaque. I thought this time, as they seemed to be the cheapest, we'd go with them as perhaps people's bad experiences were exaggerated? Or perhaps Ryanair had taken note of complaints and were now better?
After taking into consideration the £100 in extras, I think I should have gone with a different airline. I certainly will in future."Funny how just when you think life can't possibly get any worse, it does." - Marvin (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy)

Oh and no, we probably wouldn't be able to get to an internet cafe and have access to a printer whilst we are away. We're camping."Funny how just when you think life can't possibly get any worse, it does." - Marvin (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy)

It's not hard to understand. In the context of cost-free allocated seats, Ryanair said that the inconvenience (for passengers away for more than 7 days) will shortly be eliminated by mobile boarding passes. Given the context, it implies that mobile boarding passes will be free.
That will be a no then, NFH? You have not seen anything that actually says that there will be no charge. We will all find out in the fullness of time whether we have to pay for this mobile boarding pass or not won't we?:)0 -
It may imply that boarding passes will be free, but this isn't the same as stating this as fact is it? An implication is worth nothing.
Personally, I'm not complaining about high fees if they are made obvious to customers. There was a backlash against hidden fees made by airlines some years ago and that is what annoys me the most. It's like getting a quote from your builder and then when the final invoice comes you see that they have added on extra fees you weren't aware of and changed their T&Cs without telling you, just so they could charge you for more extras like the fresh air the builders have to breath whilst working on your property.
Yes flights are expensive and yes, most of us realise that. There would be a lot less complaining if costs were made upfront in a clear way so you knew exactly how much you were paying before you purchased it.
That's not such a difficult thing to ask for - is it? No implications but clear, concise statements of fact."Funny how just when you think life can't possibly get any worse, it does." - Marvin (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy)
