Ryanair's new 7-day check-in rules

I looked into the mobile boarding pass issue before I went away. Originally I thought this might be something to do with showing the boarding pass on a tablet instead of paper. Now I know that it's a bar coded effort. There is an app for this used by American Airlines.
Apparently there is a service that I believe Ryanair are going to introduce for people not near an Internet cafe. They are going to charge 3.99 for doing the boarding pass for you.
As I am always being told 'nothing in life is free'0 -
That will be a no then, NFH? You have not seen anything that actually says that there will be no charge. We will all find out in the fullness of time whether we have to pay for this mobile boarding pass or not won't we?:)
Yes and didn't they used to charge a fee to send something by SMS. Can't remember the exact details but I remember having to make sure the relevant box wasn't checked.0 -

I interpret that as Ryanair stating that cost-free seating for those travelling over seven days will still be available via mobile boarding pass. So you will still get free seats, but you'll probably have to pay a nominal fee for the privilege of them sending you a mobile boarding pass. I believe some companies already offer this service at around £3.99 per pass. As a seat is £5 each it's hardly worth it.
If you interpret this differently NFH then that's up to you. This is Ryanair we are talking about however. As others have said, they have been careful not to state that this will be a free service. If it was, I believe they would have shouted from the rooftops about it. The wording makes me think they are treading cautiously whilst details are finalised but personally, I feel they will charge.
It's a moot point since the Ryanair quote does not specify so no-one can say for certain. We are all theorising here, but based on past experience, some theories are more convincing than others."Funny how just when you think life can't possibly get any worse, it does." - Marvin (Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy)

So in other words, you don't have a clue whether or not there's going to be a charge either?0 -

Which airlines are those? I've never come across an airline that charged to to use electronic boarding passes.0 -

I still stick to the stance that I do not want to be traipsing round on holiday looking for internet cafes, even if I know where it is, hoping it will be still in business and open when I go, to then have to explain and work out in a foreign language what I want to do. I assume that there will be some cost (a Euro or two?) for this as well.
So I will factor in the cost of printing boarding passes if necessary. Luckily Ryanair is not the main budget airline at my preferred airports so they are not normally the cheapest/most convenient anyway.
I also don't normally go on holiday for more than one week so could possibly leave it until the day of the flight, but that would be inconvenient if it was a very early flight and then there is the risk that something will go wrong at the last minute (my laptop and printer are connected by wifi and often refuse to communicate with each other).
I still think that it is unacceptable to change terms and conditions and charges for people who have already booked. I was affected by this change, but luckily I was only going on a business trip for the day so could easily check in for both flights at the same time.0 -
I'm another who paid his bill, then was asked to stump up another £20 for peace of mind.I'm afraid ryanbewair will not be having to put up with me anymore.0
