Best trip ever was with my family of seven going on a three day trip to Rome with RA fr 14 pence return. Book a cheeky apartment with all mod cons and out of season by the Trevi, not many tourist s and fabulous weather. We ate in mostly in. Whole trip cost £300 loved those penny flights

Yup, those of us with long memories remember flying to Europe before the days of Ryanair.
It was an expensive cartel designed to suit airlines rather than passengers.
City breaks were a very pricey way of having a dirty weekend.:D

Oh, I don't know, it wasn't too expensive to take the train from London Charing Cross to Dover, connect to ferry, then train to Paris. Took a bit longer than Eurostar though!
Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear

Just an update on this as I have just got back from Majorca and there appeared to be only one internet caf! in the whole of Cala Millor that had printing facilities. I researched where it was beforehand and managed to get the return boarding cards printed at a cost of 25 cents each. Much better than putting another 20 quid into O'learys coffers.

It looks that internet cafes are getting more and more scarce so I imagine most people on holiday for more than 7 days will not want the hassle of finding an internet cafe if there are any to print out their boarding cards. You could always ask your hotel if they will print out the boarding cards for you but mine didn't appear to be very accommodating towards that.

Indeed. Now that most internet users in developed countries have internet access on their mobile phones, internet cafÉs are now commonplace only in the third world.

    Here in Ireland too.
And in Spain where I was the other week.
In fact just about anywhere that people need stuff printing off.
    Which is everywhere.

Not in Cala Millor Majorca which is quite a large resort, only one with printing facilities which I discovered beforehand:p

This quote from Ryanair suggests that mobile boarding passes will be free:

‘While we understand the minor inconvenience for those limited number of customers travelling for over seven days who freely choose to wait for a cost-free allocated seat, any such inconvenience will be eliminated shortly when we move to mobile boarding passes.’

No doubt we will then have a swarm of posters complaining how Ryanair are forcing them to pay for expensive roaming charges :)

Indeed they will. It's surprising how many UK consumers when abroad don't bother to connect to free wifi or use local SIM cards.
