    Hi,

I have just received an email saying that they rejected my account application. How is that possible? I though everyone would get current account?

I also applied for a lot of other accounts with other banks (~6 in total), maybe this has to do with this?
Or maybe it was because I asked for overdraft? (Even though i dont even need it...).

However, my GF did exactly the same (minus the overdraft), and got it..

Would you recommended reapplying now without the overdraft, or would you recommend waiting a bit?

    Thanks

I had this problem. I have a branch very close to me so I went there and opened an account without problem. Opened a second account on line a week later without problem.

Is there a branch near you?

I guess if I did this they would see we already had two accounts each..
Well they would, but by that time you'd all be sat round a PC screen (having coffee!) and the advisor might 'try it'?
Only way is to pretend to be a completely new customer, not sure how we would stand with that and if they would tie up our details with our existing accounts...
Never a good idea to lie! Because, as I'm sure you already know, 'deception to gain a pecuniary advantage' is, well, fraud!

So all a bit of a gamble as to how much the adviser sticks to the rules..

It would be interesting to know how Finacialbliss manged it....

One thing's for certain...the branch advisor wouldn't/couldn't have overridden any 'policy rule' on screen, so the 'system' must have allowed it.

    You just need a different advisor/branch. ;)

Take a photo ID and a bank statement and/or utility bill in case they can't find you electronically.

    I did both mine online.

All checked and validated with account opened in around 15 mins.

I can't see any reason to go into a branch unless you have a problem with the application or you can't be verified online.

Pre-arranged appointment with TSB to open two joint plus accounts.

Advisor was well aware we already had four accounts between us. She initially attempted to add my other half onto my account, but that caused her problems, so she opened two brand new joint accounts while we waited.

Could not see exactly what was being entered / set up as the screen had a filter where if you were not looking directly at it, you could not see the screen details.

I did ask at the beginning of the session if I was wasting her time and if you could just have two accounts as per the website, and was assured that it's most definitely two personal and two joint. Now have four TSB cards - they arrived on Saturday. :D

Was advised that joint accounts can't be opened online as both parties can't be logged into the application data entry process at once, thus needs to be done in branch with both parties present.

Many thanks for all that FB, very interesting, think we will have to just try another branch...

So I went to TSB branch to ask about this, and brought my Nationwide account report as proof of address. However, they spotted (and I dont know how I didnt), that my surname was missing one letter in it. So I'll come back once it is changed.

Could that have made an impact in rejection, or was it just a coincidence?

during the online application, TSB wouldn't have checked the address nationwide hold for you. So this wasn't the reason. However, your name might also be wrong on your credit files and/or the Electoral Register. have you checked these? Or had someone else check them for you? If the data on your credit file is correct, then may be you mistyped your name in the online application?

Every even minor discrepancy between the application and the credit files can result in failure of the application.
