Many thanks for all that FB, very interesting, think we will have to just try another branch...

Give them call. You can open joint accounts over the phone. I was asked if I already had any accounts with them during the phone application and I told them two classic plus' already. He even asked if I wanted a call back the next day to open my second joint account, which would have been fourth in total.

Did you ring your branch or the call centre?

I phoned and asked if you could have 2 sole and 2 joint and was told yes.

We opened a joint one by calling the call centre on Saturday. I was told I needed to call back next day to open a second joint one.

Called on Sunday and was 10 mins into the process when the advisor said he couldn't proceed as the first one hadn't been fully opened and wasn't showing online. The back office who open the accounts don't work at the weekend. He said he would call me back today and gave me a reference number so that we could resume the application rather than starting from scratch.

No call so I called them. I was told it needed to be the same advisor as all the details would be on his system, but he wasn't available. I was told he will call me back tomorrow. If he doesn't I will be complaining.
  • Received a email this morning saying my application was declined after 6 days waiting , went online and apply again but chaging the option saying savings to bills / payments .... After few minutes application accepted receive sort code and acc number now im waiting for the debit card , pin etc
The only thing is i cant log in to the account ,is this normal ?? Just have to wait for the internet code ??
    Thanks

I was able to login to my accounts immediately after opening them. The login procedure gave me an option to proceed without an activation code. You are limited in what you can do until the activation code has been entered.

Rang today and asked for a joint account to go with our four existing personal Plus accounts, first was told you have to go to a branch, I said I have been told you can do it over the phone, she went off to ask someone, came back and said yes can do on phone..

So after a security check put me through to whoever sets up new accounts, after long drawn out T&Cs etc etc, got a joint account, took just over half an hour...

I asked about a second joint account and she said yes can have one but have to wait until this one is set up in about 48 hours...So will ring in a couple of days...

Got there in the end after being told by my branch that cant have one and call centre initially saying had to go to branch... you would think they would know by now what you can and can't do...

    Update
Joint account 1 showing online, rang yesterday for Joint account 2, took 20 minutes, now showing online today, so have funded both with 2k each, set up £500 transfers from existing sole plus accounts and selected paperless statements... hopefully can forget until 2nd of each month now.. ;)
