I was told I probably would have to because I haven't lived at my current address for three years. Turns out I didn't have to.

I wonder if being an existing Lloyds customer helps in this regard. Obviously they only split recently and their online application forms are identical aside from branding (just like their online banking interfaces).

dunno dragon. I think its a bit hit and miss. I've been on a bit of an account opening frenzy in the last month or so. my experience:

Lloyds - opened Classic account no problem on line. Phone the next day to upgrade to Vantage and they opened a 2nd account for me then phoned me back next to sort out a 3rd. Went online yesterday and easily opened a Lloyds Club online. Didn't have to go anywhere near a branch

TSB - applied for Classic Enhance at same time as Lloyds but was asked to go into branch. Went in and opened 3 easily enough. Then when I applied online and on phone yesterday for the 2x Plus I was rejected and told to go to branch. Went in today and opened 2 without a problem.

Santander 123 - opened no issue over internet. no id requested
Halifax/Nationwide - opened online but I already had some savings with both.

Natwest - Had to go into branch despite already having an ISA with them.

Tesco savings - online no prob

Post Office e-saver - Had to go to PO to show id.

Barclays - opened one in branch on way back from PO. Well I was passing so it would have been rude not to pop in.

Clydesdale/Yorkshire - most unfriendly. Online application referred to branch. Phoned up and referred to branch. Decided not to bother cos branch not really near enough.

Bank of Scotland - haven't tried yet

COOP/First Direct - will try them out once I get my details for the Natwest and Barclays accounts so I can switch.

Strange thing is that I would have expected TSB and LLoyds to be the same but LLoyds was all online and TSB wanted to see me in branch.

According to TSB website the Plus account is no longer on sale. As it only went live today did anyone manage to open an account?
Where do you see this? The advertising for the account is all over the TSB site, doubt it will be pulled for at least 12 months, or even pulled at all, considering the interest is variable and not fixed.
  • Go to TSB.co.uk. Classic Plus is open but this is not same as Plus.

    Yes it is.

When I go on tsb.co.uk I see a massive banner in the middle that says "5%". Underneath it says "the new classic plus account". I don't know why you can't see it.

Classic Plus IS the account you want. I've just opened the 5% account in branch and all the paperwork they've given me says Classic Plus.

Opened my two plus accounts yesterday, fully funded along side a enhance account that I opened a week or so ago.

So am I correct in the funding requirements as follows.

£1000/month into the Enhance and £500 into the Plus accounts.

If I set up internal standing orders of £500 from the each of the Plus accounts to the Enhance and the from the Enhance £500 to each of the Plus accounts?

It all seems to work out too neatly and easy... not that I'm against that. :D

Mind you they still do credit search for any single account even the fact that I already have three enhance with them and never have any bad sign.

So two new accounts will mean two credit credit searches.

When I opened my 3 Enhance accounts only 1 credit search was done. I can't see any credit searches for the Classic Plus accounts, although I expect the accounts to show up on my credit report in due time as they are full current accounts.

Any credit check will be seen by the lender even the insurance quotation. The only searches which is guaranteed will not be seen by the lender is the search by you.

Wrong wrong wrong. Absolutely brimming over with wrongability.

    Hi Guys,
I have just opened 2 x TSB Classic Plus accounts and I have transferred £2k into both from my Halifax Current account where I intend to do future transfers from (2 x £500), as you don't get interest over £2k, what is the best way to do this?

    Do I:-

Need to transfer OUT of the 2 x TSB Classic Plus accounts £500 + Interest (any idea how much that will be) on 29th of every month and then Transfer 2 x £500 per month in on 31st?

    Thanks

    Steve
