  • Thanks taxi - it was something I thought of and will ask them when they come but am fairly sure that I cant with my lender and the other problem is that I wont "make" the mortgage so will still be out of pocket...Once the debts are paid off I will be a quite a positive financial place so am not worried about getting back on the prperty market as I will be in a better position financially (credit score better = lower interest rates etc). The only disadvantage is having to get rid of furniture and then buy it again but not worth the storage costs TBH. Will mention to estate agents that purchasers can buy furiture at reasonable price! It all fits really well with the flat so am hopeful!

  • Have been looking at property prices and unsure whether I will be able to make enough to make it worthwhile...time will tell I guess! Going to have an early night - still on catchup from 2 days lost sleep last week....hoping that this week will be an improvement on last week anyway! Night debtbusters - sleep tight!

    Hi fishface

I've "met" you on hypno's thread - I sort of hardly think to go to other people's diaries, cos I don't have my own (uh, maybe I should, don't know) but have just realised I need to expand my diary reading, so I've come here. I'm really sorry to hear your troubles with your cat, and with needing to sell the flat too, tho I understand how that can be a huge relief. My cats died two and three years ago, and I still miss them, still talk to them, look at their photos, all sorts of things - glad yours is getting better tho; how is she now?

Its good that you have the option of selling up and moving back with your mum - and *very* good you get on with her so well. I get on with my mum, and have offered to be the one to stay with her when she needs it - that will probably be when I'm more or less ready to stop doing the work I'm doing, and then I won't need a full house to myself anyway. I work at home, so it needs to be a fair size. Selling up right now wouldn't solve anything for me - the debts are quite small compared to the equity I have in the house, to be honest (cos I used to be well off!), and also renting a room in a shared house in my town costs more than my mortgage, for a nice place. Family lives miles away, nothing doing there.

I admire you doing the painting - I should deffo be picking up a paintbrush, can't seem to get round to it.

House selling - painting the front door is a good one! Doing the little jobs, they all say. Clean towels in the bathroom. I bet you know all that stuff.

Anyway, just introducing myself on your thread, and saying hi, and good for you.
    xx

  • Thanks all, Just looged on (at a ridiculous hour for me!) to see if I could have MSN chat with my mum but she's not logged on so thats out! Time changes are a mare but at east I get to go back to bed for a bit! I slept better and without nightol last (night I hate taking them) but still have a slight "pit" in my stomach but hopeully that will go...Goint to have a chat with my boss and see if I can see her IFA & whether I can switch mort to fixed rate but I think with the ammt of money I have going out that will be unlikely to happen but worth a try! Vet rang late last night to say she is doing OK but still not eating. Please send big "eat Macey" vibes her way!! She's getting there but the bill is mounting...! Have a good day all!

Hi there, Thanks for those and it's always good to know you're not alone. No would be living with my mum and after travel (accross the bridge!) of 84 miles return I recon could put 1000+ a month at the debt. The only thing that will scupper it is if I cant get enough for the flat. Mum is staying with my aunt in Australia and emailed from there (email awful form of communication at times like this!) and aunt/husband think I should do a DMP rather than sell the flat. I am pretty much set on selling though as just dont think the worry is worth it for the next 7 years! This way I could pay the lot off quickly and then start afresh in about 2 years. I'm not saying it's not going to be tough cos it is but the relief at being debt free will be worth every moment of upset in my book. I do feel a sence of failure moving home at the age of 38 but not enough to make me not want to do it. I actually think it will be nice to spend time with my mum; we are very close and get on well, athough I know I will struggle with her being untidy! Thanks for the replies - I have just been feeling very alone in all this and the lack of reponse was difficult! Hypno will go and have a look at your SOA...depressing arent they! Doing mine again just confirmed my decision really! Fingers crossed that I get enough for the flat though! Off to hunt for tips on house selling as I have no clue on these things! Anyone ot any advice to offer?[/quote

You're not a failure hun, I still live at home and I'm 33. I know at the moment I could not afford to leave. Hope Macey is getting better!!

Afternoon FF..sending lots of positive vibes your way....and glad to hear that you slept better and macey get eating as mummy wants you to come home...
  • Hi all,
Thanks for the replies. Well good news is that Macey cat is home. Naughty girl pulled her tube out and vet just felt it best to send her home & see if she eats and if not go back in again...she has been seen eating which is great news! Not vast amounts but nibbles and she is still quite wobbly on her feet but getting there! Keep sending "eat macey" vibes please! She is having lots of cuddles and TLC and I've explained to her in NO uncertain terms that she is in deep s*** if she doesent eat!!
Other news is that I rang round and found a new mortgage! It's a 5 year fixed rate at 6.39% at £599 per month. I'm going to go for it - free valuation & legal fees. The exit fee for the first 5 years is large (£5000) but its portable so if I were to move...It's been agreed in principle so once the application etc done it should be sorted!
Do I feel relief? Actually I dont bizarrly. I really had got used to moving! Also this way means I'll back to the 7 year itch of debt freeness rather than the quick fix...positives are that the front door is painted, flat is spotless and I feel thinner - must have lost 1/2 stone! My mum will again appreciate the space she has at her flat and I feel more enthused again at my debt free journey - even though I'll be 42 by the time it's done! CC's first! Will now take it out of my wallet that vet bill is paid PLUS it's payday on Friday and this month should be a good one after the horrendous month of expenses last month. Fingers crossed! Must also sort the clicks out!
