However in the letter they also picked up the point about the rate of cashback on the High5 card which is apparently going to be 1% until it is switched off. Where they got this figure from is beyond me as it is not a rate that applies to transactions on either the old High5 card or the new Visa card..

i put this down to them classifying your 'old' card as a 'new' card and giving you 2 x 0.5%.

i have a statement from them which appears as though it relates to the new cards, and have done 15+ transactions in the following (this) month too, but they have now cancelled my card..

i am waiting for the DD to take the bulk of the balance next week, and for my next statement to arrive, and then i will try to sort it with them, get my cashback (at 2% for the biggest transactions for both months) and then get the account limit merged into my other account.

    we shall see:undecided

The problem with this logic is that we don't have the double rates on this account (my wife's), we have them on the account in my name. So literally none of the Visa cards on this account get 1% interest, only the Amex.

    i see, ok.
well, all i can say is that all i am 'expecting' of them is to honour my 0.5%+2% deal on the transactions i made up until the point they cancelled the card.
i've still not received replacement cards from them.

I have only just picked up on this thread too. Today, I sent my complaint via secure messaging stating that I am disappointed about the cash-back cards after using them for the past 3-4 weeks. I complained that Amex is not widely accepted as the Mastercard was and the Visa card only carry's 0.5% cash-back. I also mentioned losing the insurances.

I received an answer withing hours, offering me £50 for the insurances and a promise to switch me to a non-dual account after 3 months. I have no idea what that account may be...anyone have any clues? (I did ask to just issue me with a Visa @ 1% and scrap the Amex)

I think I will reply accepting the £50 but asking if the cashback can be improved? (this is in relation to others getting double cashback for six months)

So no, it's not too late! Make sure you say you have been trialling the card since you were force migrated, you are unhappy with it, and are considering cancelling the card because of the changes!

    Good luck!
    Frank

Thanks for the help. I complained and have now accepted £50. They also said they may beable to switch me to a better card in 3 months.
My wife also complained as she also has the same card and has also received £50. Glad I found this thread now! :)
    Next year we'll be millionaires!

    Hi All,

I have had my offer increased to £70 which is fairly good deal, in practice I have still been able to use my Amex in most merchants that I have tried. Indeed it's not as widely accepted as the Mastercard but I feel Amex is better than it used to be 10 years ago. ;)

Do you think the offers fair...or I should really push for the double cashback. I put through about 1-2k per month so off course I would benefit more if I got double cash-back even if it's for 3 month period. (that is if I could use Amex for eveything..which is albeit impossible!) Nevertheless..I am very impressed with Barclaycard's customer service...they could just let me walk.

I understand that you are not happy with the reduced rate of cashback. With regards to your concern, may I inform you that on the World MasterCard there use to be an annual cap of £200.00, however, with the new cards you have received, there is no cap on the cashback you can earn as you can earn cashback as per your spendings.

Instead of annually, you can claim cashback on each statement month - no minimum amount necessary to claim. You will also get increased number of days to pay on your account.

As a welcome bonus, we have already credited your Barclaycard account with £15.00 on 14/08/2014 which you should be able to view online.

I also note your comments regarding the product transfer for which you can contact us to check if it is possible to transfer your product to another single product or not. I am not able to comment which product you will be offered because there are many factors taken into consideration when a product transfer is offered to the customer.

Considering the circumstances as you were not happy with the migration, I am able to credited your account with £70.00 in total to compensate the loss of cashback and other benefits.

i agree. Amex is accepted at most places that i spend. but the problem i have with the Barclaycard Cashback Amex is that it only generates 1%, whereas on my American Express Cashback i get 1% once ive spent 3.5k and then onwards & upwards beyond that.. to be honest folks, for anyone who is a serious spender, if you are going to use Amex, you might aswell have a proper one:)

Each time I call up Baclaycard to cancel my cards, they offer me £25 to keep the card as a good will gesture, and an apology that my 'High 5' card and ex Egg card have been changed to the Amex+Visa combo.

I took the £25, but then a month later, decide to close it again... and they gave me another £25. I thought I'd try it again as a laugh, and it worked. They have now closed one of the 2 accounts (the ex High 5 one), but I'm still chatting to them about the ex Egg Money one.

I just got my 3rd £25, and that followed a few other pay outs earlier in the year when they first announced the planned changes (think I got £50). They even gave me my £24 fee back for the High 5 card when they closed that, and then gave me back the same fee again 'pro rated' (£12).
In total, I'm over £170 up.

Anyway - it seems they don't track which customers have received which payouts for this particular complaint historically, so will treat any subsequent complaints as fresh & new. More money to be had, if you want it, and they want you as a customer (probably the main point).

    Bonkers.
