fair enough Froggit, but if you are enjoying the Barclaycard Amex, surely you should be using a 'proper' Amex instead?;)
Depends on how much you spend.
You would have to spend over £10,000 a year to be better off on the Platinum Cashback credit card or £14,500 a year to be better off on the Platinum Cashback Everyday credit card (although you would get 18 months 0% with the latter).0 -
I have the costco amex , no fee just my costco membership one that earns a lot of cashbackDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

my card is Cashback. so you mean you have to spend £10,000 to get reach a threshold higher than 1%? i do that, and then hit it as hard as i can. and the service is on a different level than anything from Barclaycard.0 -
I have just (in the last week), completely re-arranged my finances. largely prompted by this recent BCard activity.
I had 2x Barclaycard accounts.
An old "choice" account, that i have had for 14 years - balance at £4k (CL at £9k).
An old "Egg Money" (Black Card), that have had since 2008, balance paid off in full each month.
I have now opened an MBNA 0% for 29 months BT Card and closed th Bcard Choice account down.
For the Egg Money Card, when I rang to close the old account I expressed my dissatisfaction at the new set up.
End result; Choice account closed; Old Egg Money account still open, Cash back doubled for 12 months, £50 goodwill gesture and £50 inconvenience gesture. Also lowered the interest rate on the old Egg Card from 19.9% to 16.9%, however I never pay interest anyway.

Further to my comments on 12th July post No. 874, and following a few delays from the Barclays Customer Relations Team, I finally received a total of £100:
- £50 as compenation for the loss of benefits from Mastercard and
- £50 for the inability to provide double cash back to me for 6 months as requested.0 -
Has anyone had the £15 applied for spending £300 yet? I thought it was meant to be applied in the September statement but no sign of it yet.
I have sent them a message asking about it but wondered if anyone else has had it paid yet.0 -
I think in a lot of cases it arrived a few days after the statement is was meant to be on (certainly did with mine). Think it was classed as a payment as well so reduced the Direct Debit.0

I checked through my last few statements and the only credits have been the usual monthly payment and the 'compensation' payment when the cards were originally switched over.
I did have a message from them saying when the £15 would be credited but now that Barclaycard decide to remove the messages after a couple of months I no longer have that...0 -
Well 3 months after my initial complaint about these new cards I am still getting letters saying they are still investigating my complaint. I do not get why others have been offered double cashback and £££ in compensation. I have seen my benefits from my old egg account deteriorate and now they treat me like a second class civilian purely because my roll out was one of the later ones. Anyone else in this position??0
-
Well they have replied to my message saying that the £15 has been manually applied to my next statement and an apology for the 'oversight' so if you haven't had yours, its worth asking.0
