good work. and yes, the mess they make of things can certainly be used to the advantage of those willing to push them.0

For people like me that signed up for the Amazon 1% card.....forget it. Cashback is ending and transferring to MBNA.

DITTO... Like many I had not long taken it out ether as a Barclaycard alternative...
Back on the hunt for a new card now... how about the 123 account linked one? Any good?I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)
Better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.0 -
OK - so rang up to cancel card. Spoke to the stroppiest old mare Ive spoken to in a call centre for years.
So, theyre going to forfeit the outstanding amazon cashback if you cancel. So, the best thing to do is snip the cards now, let them migrate you, let them send a final gift certificate as part of the migration, snip the replacement cards, and then close the account by which time the balance should be zero.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
I might stay with Barclaycard then... At least with the American express card, I'll get 1% in supermarkets + other places. I have a Santander 123 account but never shop in department stores or barely use any petrol at all....0

Incidentally, can I submit a complaint about the removal of Amazon cashback benefits in the same way that we did with Barclaycard?illegitimi non carborundum0

You can complain about anything you like, but whether you'll get anything for it is another story.
Or put another way, if you don't ask, you don't get.
Note that it's also unlikely that withdrawal or reduction of future benefits associated with a product is within the financial ombudsman's remit unless there's an element of unfairness (for example, bank charges £24 per annum for a card, withdraws a benefit half way through the year rendering the product useless to a customer and refuses that customer a pro-rata refund)0 -
yes, i see there is a thread re. the closing of the Amazon card, and the sad thing re. Barclaycard pulling World and Hi5 is there is not much around to replace them.
i have a great deal from American Express. but as a non-Amex card....not sure where to go. Initial thoughts are: see if Barclaycard actually come up with something, with the talk of a 'single card alternative' here & elsewhere, or potentially get another HHonors card and go for points to back up Amex cashback.0 -
More goodwill credited to my account
In fact, they've credited so much goodwill, I may actually keep my Barclaycard account....especially as my Amazon card is now cut up, and I just paid off the outstanding balance. I only took out the Amazon when I got the original Barclaycard letter.

fair enough Froggit, but if you are enjoying the Barclaycard Amex, surely you should be using a 'proper' Amex instead?;)0
