good question... and has anyone been offer a single card deal, as they suggested was in the offing?
i have escpaped to CapitalOne:whistle:
Yeah they offered me the inferior Barclaycard freedom card. I couldn't see the benefit to switching to it. (apart from having a single card) See my post a few posts up.
What's Capital One offering?

Steve Webb is set to begin a radio ''soapbox'' tour on the Jeremy Vine show today and it should be an interesting listen. Concerns are increasingly being raised about DIY retirement planning once the new pension flexibility kicks in next April, particularly those who are considering cashing in a pension fund to pay down debts, including credit card balances.
In addition to promoting the advantages of the new pension rules, it will be interesting to see if Webb also mentions the potential pitfalls of stripping out a pension fund early, the potential tax consequences and indeed the daily fines for getting it wrong.
Unfortunately, I will miss the show live as for my sins I am in pension strategy meetings both today and tomorrow. However, I will download the podcast and post a blog on the RetireEasy website about the broadcast later today or tomorrow.0 -

What cashback deal are you getting with Capital One ? - Does it beat the 1%/0.5% with Barclaycard ?
....and Frank121:
5% cashback on everything you buy for the first 99 days after you open your account. The most cashback you can earn in that period is £200.
For purchases made after the first 99 days from your account opening you will receive the following cashback:
1% cashback on all subsequent purchases up to the next £15,000
2% cashback on all purchases from £15,000 up to £50,000
1.35% cashback on all purchases from £50,0000 -

But it is a business card? (they say:"For business expenses of any type and size. If you're a small business owner, we only need your business name and number of employees (if any).")
Their "normal" cashback is only 0.5%, so inferior to Barclays offer...0 -
No, this isn't the business card, but the Aspire Elite card - from having a look at the Capital One site.
It does have a £120 annual fee though !0 -
DW and I have both done the cap1 5% business cards without ever claiming to be business - unfortunately it takes 12 months to pay out before you can close and wait to be a new customer again.
I emailed Barclaycard to ask what they would offer me now 6 months double cashback is over and they replied with 'nothing', may try asking them to call and see if I can get another £50 but did get £70 as well as the double cashback before.
Also just done amex gold for both DW and I so may have to do amex platinum next but it means BC at 0.5% is my best non-Amex option - perhaps a slow stooze card would be better?I think....0 -
as Darren says, no...the Aspire Elite isn't a business card. first year, with the £200 in first 99 days, it is a no brainer for me. whether to carry on....depends on how much spending i can funnel through it. so will see.0
