I asked Barclaycard to give me the date that my current card will expire. They replied that they couldn't say.

Whomever has programmed the system apparently hasn't told the company how it works.

    Bloody unbelievable.

    from an Barclaycard email

Once you receive your new cards, please destroy your old card by cutting it into quarters, ensuring you cut through the chip. Your current card will be deactivated 30 days after your May 2014 statement. Everything you spend on your current MasterCard during this time will be transferred to your new Barclaycard Cashback credit card account, which means you'll benefit from the 1% cashback rate.

Found this thread after finally deciding I ought to pay attention to this change having had an Egg Money->Barclaycard World card for some years. Thanks for all of the advice posted here.

I tried having a moan at Barclaycard about reduced cashback, reduction of benefits, etc via their messenger service and managed to get a £25 'good will gesture', but no double cashback despite my protestations that quite a few others got it. Apparently I am a bit too late as the cards are now active so that offer is no longer available. Oh well, serves me right for leaving it until now I guess.

However, the old card still seems to be working just fine for the moment, complete with 1% cashback - and presumably the extended warranty! I am well past 30 days after the May statement (although it is not that clear what that actually means). Let's see how long their incompetence works in my favour...

Another one saying thank you to the people in this thread. I would never have thought about it otherwise. So complained to Barclaycard about a month ago and got the £50 - £15 after £300 spend and double cashback .

    So thank you all.

Did you also receive the £15 bonus if spent £300?

I was advised that it would be paid after the 3 month period.
I paid my holiday off the second day I got the cards so I assumed I'd get it quickly.
