Hmm, perhaps they "hide" the charge by using a really poor rate, then...

I've shifted what US services I could find to either there or my Santander Zero card, perhaps the latter needs even more love.

Am not even sure that cash back even applies to foreign purchases.

You would be better to use your Santander zero or halifax clarity card for these.

I can confirm foreign transaction do acquire cashback. Great for company expenses when you don't care about the 2.99% charge.

Well, I've got my double cashback for six months. Makes me laugh - in their response, they said they can change the coditions without my consent if they are to my advantage. How can earning a lower rate of cashback and having to carry two instead of one card around be to my advantage?

They said there's no annual fee under the new arrangement (I pay no annual fee now). I can earn unlimited cashback a year, whereas it is currently capped at £200 (I currently have never earnt £200 cashback a year).

    All smoke and mirrors....
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

I don't travel much on business these days but when I did I used to use my Egg (as it was then) card for all of my travel expenses. i would regularly be putting £2000-3000 a month on the card which meant a very healthy cash back every year.

Well I've just had to have both of my cards re-issued to me, since the Visa has a security code of 000 which for some reason is invalid when used online. So I'm now without any cards at all over the bank holiday weekend. Nice one Barclaycard!

On the flip side, I did wangle another £50 out of them for the inconvenience. :D

Same issue for me. Tried to to use my amex at the petrol station, rejected and now it is locked. Sent then a complaining message but heard nothing back.

Just had £110 credited to my account as goodwill gesture with regard to the problems with the migration. The secret is to be very polite but firm. If a complaint goes to the regulator it costs the bank at least £300 for the adjudication fee so it makes economic sense for them to offer a much smaller amount to settle early.

Is the security code for Amex the 4 digits on the front of the card?
