Barclaycard World MasterCard (Ex Egg Money) Being Replaced with Amex + Visa Combo
Comments

My visa card is cut up already. The Amex I'll use but only whilst I've the 2% cashback for six months. After that it's bye, bye Barclaycard - unless they stupidly decide to throw more money at me or give more cashback. Better cashback on other cards than this offering.0

I think it's personal choice how many credit and debit cards one chooses to keep/use - regardless of cashback.
I have 3 c/c and 2 d/c, others that came with 6 bank accounts have been disposed of. I regularly use only 1 c/c and occasionally 1 d/c - the others are kept in reserve or back up.
Enough pin numbers for me already without adding AMEX, which will be rejected two thirds of the time! Can't even use it to pay for my new kitchen or the appliances - extra fee loaded for AMEX use cancels out the cashback!
Scissors.
PS I'd really like to do away with stupid points store cards (Tesco, Sainsbury etc), just make the goods a fraction cheaper. Cards, cards, cards, my bl00dy purse is becoming the size of a handbag.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -

I cant see them doing that .. the data they collect is sold to suppliers etc.. and they make more ££ out of that than what they give back in points value...
The likes of Dunhumby, Harris IM etc. who work with Tesco etc.. also use it to analyse market trends, consumer trends and effectiveness of advertising (be that in whatever form). it also allows them to target you with relevant special offers (again the manufacturers can target individuals to get pull through of stock (ie sales) etc..)I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)
Better to be approximately right than precisely wrong.0 -

I definitely wouldn't cut up your Amex. Every so often there are Amex offers like £10 off Tesco spend etc.0 -
Cards arrived today. Has anyone actually been able to verify that the double cashback is being applied?
Yes, I sent a secure email to Barclaycard and they confirmed that the Amex/Visa combo will earn 2% and 1% cashback for 6 months from the date of migration. They also admitted and apologised that there has been a glitch on their part regarding the April earned cashback not showing on the online statements, and they looking at rectifying this problem as soon as possible.0 -
Asked for double cashback, but got £50 instead, which was credited to my account the same day. Result!
I'll just keep my eyes open for deals in the meantime.0 -
Well, you can just cut up the card and ignore it. That's mostly the same thing. Although why you would do that and forget the 2% cashback is beyond me. Why are people bothered about carrying an "extra card"? I could understand if each one was the size and weight of a house brick..
I don't understand it either. If carrying two cards is so troublesome then just leave the Amex card at home as a spare or use it for online shopping.
Still not received my new cards but my MC is still working despite showing as "cancelled" for the last week.0 -
I've been informed that my Mastercard will continue to work until 15th June, although I've no reason to use it now with the double cashback on the other cards.0
