Barclaycard World MasterCard (Ex Egg Money) Being Replaced with Amex + Visa Combo
Comments
-
I am SO upset, I just bought our new car with my old Barclaycard, if I had waited a couple of weeks I would have got the new cards with cash back!
Only used the Barclaycard as I will transfer it to my new Virgin card, 0% for 29 weeks for 3% fee.0 -
I received my new Amex+Visa Combo on Friday and both work fine. Amex was accepted by Aegean Airlines and William Morrison but rejected by Esure who then accepted the Visa card. Perhaps it would help all of us if other forum members could kindly post any rejections of the Amex card so that we can then monitor the overall acceptability of Amex0

Theres several threads on this website and other websites that show where Amex is accepted. I don't think its necessary to put that information in this thread as well.0 -

Fair enough. Enlighten me, please name other websites.0 -
For anyone that is looking to close their account instead of paying to call Barclaycard on their 0844 number (not premium rate, but also not included on mobiles or landline inclusive minutes) here are two alternative numbers from the saynoto0870 page - I've personally used the first one and it works fine:
01604 230 230
0800 028 2360
I plan to ring and ask for the credit to be paid to my bank and then to cancel my account, but I don't aim to pay to do so.0 -

I haven't personally checked "other websites" but for a start there is this page on the very site you're looking at and this massive thread here on this very forum.
I found these simply by using the "search this forum" tool which you can find at the top of the thread list.0 -
Cards arrived today. Has anyone actually been able to verify that the double cashback is being applied?0

After I hit the £300 in 3 months to get the £15 I will switch to my Amazon card.0 -
We got the double cashback for 6 months but only got the additional £50 when we complained because others had clearly been given it.
Their website migration to the 2 cards has gone all wrong and they don't know how long it will take to fix it.
Left us right in the lurch as we need to pay off our card bill NOW (usually d/d on 6th) to get our credit limit back up to it's max, in order to pay for another whopping purchase. Blocked from doing the usual 'pay now' option on-line even though it says you can. Just keep getting logged out.
Helpdesk couldn't have been less knowledgeable or less helpful if they tried. Clueless!Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -

You could try making a payment to the card by Faster Payments. That still seems to be working fine, and is what I did a number of days ago (despite the website saying my card had been cancelled [it's still active for 30 days from migration]). My account showed the new payment and updated available credit a few days afterwards.0
