The double cashback offer is for 6 months from May 2014, so the new cards need to arrive by 01 May 2014 for the deal to be fully honoured.0

£50 compensation. Plus £15 for lack of £300 offer. No double cashback which they claim is impossible. It all seems so random. £65 already credited to the account.
TOPSBarclaycard Cashback (the cashback rules)
2. Earning your cashback
2.2 We might sometimes offer promotional rates. If we do we will tell you about additional terms and conditions that apply to the promotional rates at the time of the offer

I phoned to complain about this today.
I had the High Cashback card - which had an annual fee, but paid bonus cashback on the top 5 transactions per month and another bonus on the top 5 transactions in the whole year. I even bought a car on the card, because the bonuses would've outweighed the transaction fee.
There were lots of hoops to jump through to get these bonuses, and I've been jumping through them as required. But now they're just withdrawing the whole account and replacing it with this double card, all the promised bonuses are being taken away and there's nothing I can do about it - apparently they retain the right to change a contract at any point!!!!!
The 1% is next to worthless, because loads of places won't take Amex and any cashback deemed by Barclaycard to be a business transaction, will get the cashback removed!
It's a disgrace - you sign up to a contract, which appears to be binding for only one party, pay for the account on the basis of promises made and it's all just cancelled without any comeback whatsoever.
The woman I spoke to on the phone said she would give me £20 as compensation for my "trouble"! That being £4 less than the fee I paid them to have the card!
What a bunch of crooks!0 -
I think that is a good rule of thumb when dealing with any financial institution. At least then you have a record of what is said.
Also, if you have taken the time to write, they should have the courtesy to write back, rather than trying to fob you off with a phone call.
Although others have had the £50 offer + double cashback via phone as well.
Barclaycard have just called me, following my secure message, and I've told them to Secure Message me back. It annoys me when they call and then ask security questions to identify me, and then they get annoyed because I won't answer them! (I have no way of proving they are who they say they are ... And they should know that!) They call it a secure messaging service for a reason. And, yes ... I prefer getting any offers in writing.0 -

i have very little problem with spending on my Amex card. admittedly, i have got into the habit of having a non-Amex back-up card in my wallet too, but if there is nothing with a good deal i am happy to just use Amex wherever possible and pay for haircuts/beer/postage with a debit card.
also, i understand that in the past transactions that could have been classified as 'business' by Barclaycard have not been. bottom line is that they make a profit from people spending on their cards, so they want us to do so.The woman I spoke to on the phone said she would give me £20 as compensation for my "trouble"! i would take that as a decent start, but go back and push for more. and the letter i have received today refers to a pro-rata credit for the fee.
just to be clear, im unhappy with Barclaycard pulling the High5 card too. hopefully there will be a clear drop in spend as a result of these changes, and they'll come up with something more appealing for high spenders.0 -
Has anyone received their new cards yet?0

Had a phone call from CS in relation to my complaint and they offered double cashback for 6 months and a £10 credit.
Seems pretty random what they offer you.0 -
i dont think you will find Amex and Visa 'not working' very often
There are some occasions when only MasterCard is accepted. Take the Olympics in 2012 - didn't they have a deal with MasterCard so all transactions had to be MasterCard? That was certainly the case for online ticket purchases.0 -
I've just been back on the phone to Barclaycard and they state that no other customers have been offered £50.
Basically the woman said that anyone can write that on a forum, but it doesn't mean that's what they've done.
"I could write Barclaycard gave me £150, but it doesn't mean they did" she said.
She categorically stated that I would not be offered any more money and no one else has been either!
Apparently you are all making it up!!!!
An utter bunch of crooks!!0
