Barclaycard World MasterCard (Ex Egg Money) Being Replaced with Amex + Visa Combo

I still haven't had my letter (tho I've already stopped using the card, replaced by the Amazon 1/2%). I guess they must be phased, are they still being received?
Maybe I should send them a secure message asking them for my letter so I can send them a secure message complaining about it?0 -
Just out of interest, as many people here are mentioning the old egg cards.
The original Egg Visa was a rather snazzy metallic green - they then went to a bright lime green. The original Egg Money mastercard was a bright blue, before turning black.
That is all, just though I'd reminice a while
My first Egg Money card was green, the second one was black, then the third one was a Barclaycard. I've still got them all (I've been keeping all my old cards since 2008, and I wish I'd kept them all before that as well. Am I the only person who does this?)
The black Egg Money card is the only one I've ever had with black edges. All of my other cards have had white edges, with the exception of the Nationwide FlexDirect Debit Cards, which had red edges!0 -
Until recently, I kept 100 or so building society passbooks. Just threw them out as they will never be worth anything, and they were taking up space.illegitimi non carborundum0

I sent them a message this morning saying I was disappointed, never going to use Amex etc etc... got a call back and I've got the double cashback offer
Think I might go an apply for an Amex now after all and get the 5% for the first £2000 then switch back to the Barclaycard(s) lol
I am thinking the same, especially as the £25 annual fee is waived if you apply before March 16.0 -
Make sure you squeeze the pips out of the 2% beforehand though... the 5% will still be there in 6 months I'm sure
Good point. I thought May 1st was ages away but after application I'd need to spend £2000 in a month.
Can you apply for another amex card once the change has taken place?0 -
Thanks for all the info in here, just sent a secure message and received a reply 10 minutes later offering the £50 credit and double cashback as mentioned by many in here :beer:0

Just sent them an email and they got back to me within 10 minutes with the double cashback offer and £50 "Goodwill" gesture.
I am fairly happy with the outcome.
I spend around £15,000 - £20,000 a year on my credit card so perhaps that is why I had it quite easy.
When I have spoken to them in the past they knew I spent a fair amount and have dealt with my fairly. Once they cancelled an order of Play.com for a laptop and so I missed out on the offer that was running as it was out of stock. They gave me a £100 compensation for it, wasn't expecting it and had no idea they could offer it!0 -

wow, i thought I was a card geek:D.
exactly the same re. EggMoney. & yes, the solid black one with the 'chevrons' was nice.
i noted the NFD card's red edges when it arrived last week.
you need to get a Barclays Premier card, with it's bright blue edges offset on a black background.
i don't keep them when they expire though;)0 -
