Sent yesterday one complaint message and was offered double cashback for 6 months and confirmed £15 on £300 spend.
Send second message pointing out the 'friend' that was offered the £50 goodwill gesture, and got the £50 credit applied to my account this morning.
well done. good work. will you plan to keep the card beyond the 6 month doubling?0 -
I only got £25 but it's better than nothing.0

what was the solution? It's driving me mad!
I've tried copying into notepad, pasting as text only. Both from PC and Mac and I'm still getting the invalid character message... aaaarrrggghh
I found it to be using the ' which in word changes to ‘ (notice it has gone from vertical to diagonal!) For some reason the diagonal version is disallowed on the Barclaycard site.

When I made my complaint, I didn't mention that any 'friends' had got other deals, I just said:
- Loyal customer for eight years
- Kept my account in perfect standing and have spent tens of thousands of pounds over the years
- Disagreed with their words that the card was becoming less complex
- Unhappy due to loss of 1% cashback (AMEX isn't accepted *everywhere* that Mastercard is)
- Unhappy due to loss of insurances (and I said "that must be worth at least £50")
Got a big reply but at the bottom of the message was the offer of double cashback and £50.
If they try and call you, I would recommend telling them that now is not a good time and that they should send you a secure message instead. Be polite but firm.0 -
Inspired by this thread, I also sent them a message saying I was unhappy with the changes and they phoned within 10 mins to offer double cash back for six months, no extra money. Ex Egg Barclaycard, always pay off in full, spend approx £1k pm.
If I manage to use the Amex card for most spending, the 2% cashback will be a nice bonus.
I didn't push it further and will rethink towards the end of the year about whether to keep or ditch.0 -
My annual cashback is paid in the March statement, so once that's done, I'm done with them methinks - no real reason to continue to mess about with them and their deciding whether they want to change my statement date each month. Can't be bothered with the hassle of waiting until June for £15.
Having read the updated T&Cs if you close the account before your annual cashback has been paid, it is classed as forfeited and they will not pay any accrued to date.0 -
