I'm rather pleased I read this thread.

I wasn't happy with the new deal to say the least, but if I add the £50 and double cashback sweeteners to the fact that I hadn't noticed the £15 bung, I've not done too badly really.

Hurrah for MSE :) And thanks!

Hope no-one minds if I ask - those of you that received the £50 as well as the double cashback - do you pay interest on the account? The reason I ask is that I've just been on the phone, and was told that I don't qualify for the £50 as I don't pay any interest on my account

That's fine if it's true, but if it's not true, I am going to be mighty cross!

No, never have. In fact I hadn't even used the card since it was an Egg product until I cleared off some bills recently to BT to another card. This is why I didn't quibble when they only offered me £25 instead of pushing for the full £50, although I wish I'd at least tried now.

Seems like a blatant lie to me, as I always pay off the balance in full every month.

Agreed. That's the whole point of a cashback card. You really should choose a card with a lower interest rate if you can't pay off in full.

Well Barclaycard complaints team got back to me today and quickly offered the double cashback for 6 months. I mentioned I wasn't happy about losing the insurance products that are currently offered and was asked whether I'd seen the Moneysavingexpert forums!!!

The advisor offered £50 credit as I was a loyal customer - he was quite clear that this was in no way compensation for the insurance products being offered.

He also offered £15 additional cashback if I spent £300 in the first three months - he seemed surprised when I told him I was already aware of this offer as it was mentioned in the original offer!!

He reiterated that if I was not happy with the dual cards after 3 months they would be able to move me onto a single card offering

that sounds as though it has become far more certain.
