    thanks Gambler.

it certainly seem that the only people getting "double cashback for 6 months" are the World account holders. High5 account holders are not being offered this. i have pushed them fairly hard on it, but no joy.

I got £20 after a load of spiel from the call centre, all of which I knew.

Sounded like they had got their act together, probably been practicing on other MSE'rs earlier in the day :-)

The £50/double cb offers are for the higher spenders IMO.

We were an ex Egg Money customer as a well and generally spend between 500-1000 per month on our b'card world mastercard.

After reading the comments on here I sent a complaint via my online account access asking if I could be kept on my current product - stating that having two cards was an inconvenience, was being hit with lower cashback, less widely accepted Amex card and no insurances, etc.

They called me last night, and after a long spiel about the new product and its 'benefits' I interrupted them and said you're not telling me anything new and I'm still being forced to accept a product with an inferior cashback scheme. They then offered the double cashback for six months to make up for the lower cashback rates and started their spiel again. I interrupted again and said, what about the insurances? At which point they then offered an additional good will credit of £20 - I was quite chuffed with this until I read that some people on here got £50...oh well, better than nothing.

I have both the Mastercard World (fee free) and the Barclaycard Cashback (so far fee free, prior to the rebrand to High5) have yet to receive a letter about either of them.

i spent over £50k in the previous cashback year, so i think it's the card type rather than the level of spending.

Reject it - they'll come back with a better offer.

I've sent them a message this evening (less than an hour ago) and complained about the so called 'simplification'.
Said that I wasn't happy at the loss of the 1% rate and protection policies (I'm an ex-Egger).

Got a reply within a few minutes offering double cashback 2%/1% for 6 months - which I rejected, citing the temporary nature of the cashback extention and the loss of the protection policies.

Just had another reply adding the £50 goodwill credit as well as the 2%/1% cashback for 6 months, which I've now accepted to close the complaint case.

Not bad for 10 minutes worth of venting :)

I tried my luck but no further offer. In fact no mention of the double cashback either. Just a message to phone them so they can escalate it to the next level.

Just my luck. Wish I'd accepted the double cashback now.

Ask them directly about the double cashback.

Tell them the GoG compensates for the loss of the insurance, and the double cashback (1% on VISA) will give you the same cash back you are used to temporarily so you don't lose out whilst you are experimenting with the acceptability of Amex.

My advisor claimed he couldn't raise the cashback level until I mentioned I had seen it being offered to other people, and politely asked him to check with his colleagues to see how they were adding it.

I just made a strongly worded, but courteous complaint via secure message. Does Barclaycard usually reply within the quoted 24 hour response time?

    yes.

and you haven't lost what they originally offered, Gambler. i would speak to them and assume that that part is already agreed.

Just to add that after my offer of £30, I sent them another polite secure message saying that I wonder why I could not get the 6 month 2% offer since I've been a good long term customer, and they promptly replied that they added the offer to my account!
