Barclaycard World MasterCard (Ex Egg Money) Being Replaced with Amex + Visa Combo

I've typed my complaint in word, tried to paste into secure messaging bit it says I am using a character I shouldn't be. Have checked and rechecked but can't figure it out.
You need to do a "binary search".
Past in half your complaint. If it works, the errors is in the other half. Take the half with the error, and then divide it in two again. Keep splitting it until you get to the part with the error.
Or possibly, just past the text into a simple plain-text editor first to remove any dodgy formatting. Word is awful.0 -
"Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to Barclaycard and I am very sorry to learn of the problems you have experienced.
As a global banking organization our aim is not to inconvenience our customers. I do understand your concerns and put forward my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
In regards to your concern, we have checked our records and found that a letter was sent on 26/02/2014 to notify that we are changing the product type you hold. We understand that certain insurances services provided with this card will be withdrawn. We apologize for the inconvenience caused due to this and will note your feedback in the form of a formal complaint on your account.
I would like to inform that it is a product migration. It means all the customers holding Barclaycard World Master Card, will receive the new cards as we are closing this product and transferring to the new product called Barclaycard Cashback. It is not possible to opt out of this migration.
In regards to your concern about cashback, if you use the new Visa card you'll earn 0.5% cashback. However, it is uncapped. In your existing card you earn cashback at 1% on eligible purchases but there is an annual cap of earning cashback for upto £200. On the new product, you'll earn cashback on all eligible purchases. You can also use the new American Express card and earn 1% cashback uncapped.
Should you wish to discuss the matter further and if you are unhappy with the explanation provided in the email........"
So no offer of compensationThe highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

I've just found out that the extra 12 month warranty I've enjoyed on electrical purchases of over £50 is just being cancelled at the end of this year. It's annoying on the dish washer I bought last august 2013 which will no longer be covered under the barclaycard guarantee on the 31st December of this year. However, I bought my Samsung washing machine last July with a 5 year manufacturers warranty expecting barclaycard to cover it for an extra year. That's just been cancelled. How very, very annoying.
I've had strong word with them on the phone but the general response is "well, you can get another credit card, can't you."

I sent a complaint by secure message and had a call-back in a couple of hours. Went through everything there, and the call was then referred to a manager, but all he said was he would escalate and someone would call me back within 24 hours. Pointed out loss of insurance, and that as a former Egg customer I wasn't paying an annual fee anyway. They kept on saying that the cashback limit was removed, so I could earn more than £200 a year (as I do now), but I pointed out that as they were halving the cashback on the mainstream card, this was moot since I would have to spend twice as much to get the same...
I don't want an Amex card, so really just want them to not bother issuing me with new cards and closing my account at that point, but if they give me a decent offer to stay then I might use them for six months. I get 1% on quite a lot of my other spend with my JL card anyway, and have a 123 card on the way as well.0 -
After I ignored their voicemail they sent me a message instead.
Contained the usual cut and paste reply as above but with the addition of "As a token of respect, I have credited £20 to your account. It will show as a credit on your next statement as well as under "recent transactions" on your online account by tomorrow morning."0 -
I had the phonecall, but no offers of a bung. Nothing.0

I have the High 5 cashback card. I complained and they called me back, the call was escalated to a manager.
I explained that right now I get 2% on my top 5 purchases each month and then 0.5% on everything else so however you look at it I am 1.5% worse off on each of my top 5 purchases every month. I said I didnt want the AMEX as I have an AMEX platinum cashback card which pays me 1.25% I would always use that over the BC AMEX. They just said "sorry nothing we can do about it"0 -
I got a callback after sending a complaint by secure message (Barclaycard World prev Egg card). I got a £20 credit to my account and a lot of flannel about how they're working with retailers to get Amex accepted more widely. After looking at the other options I'm probably going to stay with them.Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans - John LennonBe yourself. Everyone else is taken.0
