I haven't received my letter yet (just stumbled across this whilst browsing the forums), but definitely have the 1% CB (ex Egg) card.

I don't think I'll bother keeping the account open anymore.
I'm finding that 1% cashback just doesn't 'cut it', and so rarely use the card.

For big purchases, it is usually better to get another card (4/5% cb), and for day to day purchases, a 0% on spending beats it for me as I can use the cash to offset a 3% mortgage.
Another Barclaycard I have pays 2% on the top 5 purchases a month also, so I think its time to give up this one and simplify my account list.

Will wait for the letter though.
    SC.

Nope - Cashback is paid month on month.. so the £300 club will be using it to the penny then ditching once the cashback has come through (or as I suspect... be spending EXACTLY £15 so the next month there is a £0 balance)

thanks OL. yes, i would be doing that...£300.00 exactly. then get he credit sent to me when they merge the limit onto my BT card...if i can swing it.

i haven't entirely given up hope that the High5 survives on for a while though.:coffee:

Yes SC, that is the 'High5' which apparently is on the way out too. i merged my old Egg limit into another card account a good while back. a flat 1% didn't appeal very much. but may turn out to be the best deal in town, of course.

But they charge us £25 p/a for the High 5, which gives me more hope that they will keep supporting it.
Furthermore, it wasn't long ago I paid my fresh £25 fee - so I'd be demanding a refund if they tried to get rid of it before the end of the year.
They only introduced it a year ago, but, having changed my mortgage to an offset account (at 3%) a while ago, I don't find myself using the 2% one much anymore either.
(Still worth it though for the 1 month a year where it goes up to 4%).
Most complicated credit card, ever. Was going to keep it for this year only and then consider closing it, but I'll be happy for Barclays to close it down and give me grounds for complaint (to get the last £25 fee refunded).

of course, yes...the 4% month is a belter.
agreed re. the fee...i certainly think the case for them to be flexible is strengthened.
as above, Barclaycard do have form for introducing a new card & then scrapping it & forcing customers onto a new deal. whereas Amex play differently.

I've created £206.14, but then again, I've only had the account since September.

I've double checked with them and had this e-mail back, using the 'My Messages' section of the site:
    Thanks for your message.

May I inform you that we wanted to simplify our existing Barclaycard Cashback account ranges, including the 'High 5' holding.

Barclaycard Cashback has no annual fees or limits on the amount you can earn. You'll start earning cashback from the very first £1 you spend (excluding cash transactions and balance transfers), so you'll soon see it add up.

You have 2 credit cards to benefit from, each with fixed rates of cashback for every £1 you spend.

    · Your Barclaycard Cashback American Express card gives you 1% cashback

    · Your Barclaycard Cashback Visa card gives you 0.5% cashback

On top of all of this, there's no need to hang around a whole year to get your cashback. You have the choice of getting it paid on any of your monthly statements. This is subject to your account being in order. You won't be able to opt out from the migration.

I hope this information is of assistance.

Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me again.

    Kind Regards,

bad news mac, but thank you for passing this on.

i had my Cashback awarded on 4th November. just under £800, which i am well on track to surpass this year...and then they go & pull this on us:naughty::mad::cry:

on these new cards: does it mean you can choose Which Month you can have your cashback awarded? or that you can choose To Receive Cashback Monthly?

I don't know - I've not got the letter yet, although I think it's due late next week or early the week following - if there e-mail is correct.

From the sounds of it, there will be an on-line redemption page, where you request it to be credited to you on that month, but that's just what is sounds like.

I'm also keen to find out what will happen to/how they will pay out the existing cashback, which does not seem to have been answered yet.
Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!
