as it stands, the CapOne card looks better to me, though i know they are tight on dishing them out.

the market may well look very different by June though. and i will be able to clear my NatWest and Tesco cards by then, and only have 6 card accounts, so maybe i'll be in with a shout:A

i like the Silver Mastercard logo.. the new Barclaycards look smart too.

just to say too, as mentioned above, Barclays do have form for changing the deal on it's Barclaycard customers. i hope i'm not tempting fate, but Amex seem to generally let a customer stick to their existing terms (and even negotiate them). i think CapitalOne seem to do similar at times too. maybe, actually, longer-term, building good history with Amex is the best game to play anyway. especially with the changes ahead and the impression that great Cashback/Points deals on Mastercard/Visa are going to be unlikely.

i'd completely forgotten i've got the amex platinum cash back, with 1.25%, on the old no-annual-fee terms. I think that will be a goer from now on. Min £3000/year spend though on the old terms, but that shouldn't be too difficult.

Does anyone know what happens about the credit limit on the new cards?

Where are people seeing the 1%/0.5%? Could you post a link please? Its possibly of course that based on your history on Amazon/cookies etc, or even a randomiser, that different people are receiving different offers on that page.

An earlier version of this card was 1%/0.5% a few years ago, but when it went up to 2%/1% I found the landing page still showed the lower rate if I was signed in to Amazon - probably so as not to alert people to the fact they were missing out.

Anyway I called customer services and tried to get them to upgrade my card, which they refused to do (but offered to add a second cardholder so I could generate cashback faster:rotfl:) but they told me (at the time, this was a couple of years ago so may be different now) it was OK to have two accounts at once. So I just applied for the new one and ran the old one just long enough to get the next voucher as I was >50% of the way there and then closed it.

It's the original link (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/cobrandcard/marketing.html). I saw the offer before I was accepted (even though Amazon usually recognises me as logged in), now I only see the standard terms.

My acceptance email, confirming the 2%, has a completely different link to the loyalty points rules, which shows the 2%/1%.

[STRIKE]Forgive me for being a little slow here, but what is this £15 credit upon a £300 spend you speak of? I received the migration letter too, but didn't see anything in relation to a £15 credit/compensation/silencer.[/STRIKE]

Never mind, I was being completely blind :D

i assume it will remain the same. but how flexible they are with merging onto other accounts etc. will be very interesting.

what is the deal with this? you have to spend £300 on the new card & then they'll credit you with £15 as a funny little 5% intro bonus? i wonder why they've bothered:think: Do we have to wait until the annual cashback is paid to collect that?

Nope - Cashback is paid month on month.. so the £300 club will be using it to the penny then ditching once the cashback has come through (or as I suspect... be spending EXACTLY £15 so the next month there is a £0 balance)

They can only give an instant decision during office hours - it says:

Err... I applied late at night (around 11pm) and got a Yes in less than 60 Seconds.. Within a minute my new card details had been e mailed for 'Immediate use on Amazon'?
