Ours is semi traditional I guess but here are a few non traditional things:

I have a "bridesmate" (male bridesmaid).
All buttonholes and bouquets are made from dried flowers.
The venue is my Uncle's garden.
Our wedding "cake" is wheels of cheese (weirdly this raises the most eyebrows. Neither me nor the OH eat cake so why would we have one at our wedding?!).
Big bouncy castle, giant jenga, giant connect 4.
I've hired a giant deckchair to have photos on.
No table seating plan and no top table.
Our first dance is a Trance tune.
We've asked guests to bring a bottle since our wedding is on private land therefore there's no cash bar and the supply of booze is finite!
I don't have or care about a wedding car - standard taxi all the way.
Our centrepieces are living herb and lavender pots with notes attached inviting guests to take them home to continue growing them.
My Mum and my Brother are DJ'ing!
    No confetti. I hate confetti.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
My daughter is engaged and preliminary talks with her and her fianc! have found:

No bridesmaids ('what do they do?')
Afternoon tea reception where he works p/t (very informal - no seating plan)
    Second hand wedding dress
Walking to church & reception (all within 1/2 mile from their home)
    No favours
    Naked wedding cake
Having minister friends taking part in the service and leading worship etc..

And after the afternoon tea - close family (about 12 of us) will be going for an evening meal at the local hotel - for private dining. :)

I have found out that an animal sanctuary hires out a barn for wedding receptions so thinking of doing that, as the animals will benefit from the money

I have been to a couple of "cheese" weddings, one was very good but the other was let down by the cheese to cracker ratio. Half a ton of cheese and two packets of cream crackers. About one cracker per guest.
  • Our wedding was at a bird of prey centre we visited very regularly and loved the birds, in the Hampshire countryside. We decided rather than line the pockets of a wealthy large-house owner, that at least the money was going to help the birds!
Both of us aren't greatly comfortable in social situations, so we gave our guests lots of things to do - watching the flying displays, photos with the birds etc took a lot of pressure off, along with a buffet style lunch. Very relaxed :)
We also didn't have an evening thing, because we both don't enjoy that sort of thing, and my family would take advantage and probably drink too much...

We were lucky with the weather, it was so hot I got a little sunburn..but had a contingency plan for wet weather which might not have been quite as fun, but everyone who went loved it, especially the kids.

    wearing dress from my wardrobe.
    no 'wedding cake'
    no rings
    no dancing
    no speeches
    no bridesmaids
    no flowers
    no cars
    no photographer
    no 'hen party'
    invites via facebook and email
not planning on changing my name
    not wanting presents

sounds a bit dull doesn't it :rotfl:

Things I am wanting to do:
    tattoo instead of ring
    maybe music at the ceremony
going to invite everyone to the actual ceremony instead of just having witness
    dinner after

I'm a bit worried I'll end up having loads of stuff I don't want because people will offer and I won't want to say no!!!
