Hi everyone. Vixx I have done all sorts of diets over the years but after I joined here I swapped to calorie counting and I can honestly say its the best diet I have ever done. Its so easy to do, no foods are banned (just use common sense). There should be a link to a site on page one of this thread that you can join and it will tell you how many calories you are allowed a day. Anyway different diets suit different people so its just a question of finding what suits your life style best. It depends whether you would prefer set meal plans or not or if you would find going to a group helpful. I've found joining here really good as it has made me more determined and everyone is so friendly and helpful.
Anyway whatever plan you decide on, good luck. Welcome to all the new people.0 -
Welcome to the newbies:D I don't think there is any point eating something you don't enjoy, it defeats the object, eating late is not good for you (look at the mediterranean diet) all the large calories should be eaten during the day so that you have a chance to burn it all off, my dinner is set in stone at 5pm partly because of the insulin but also because the kids like eating not long after school and it works for us, they say not to eat at least 2 hours before you go to bed, otherwise it just stays there turning to fat and has no chance to burn off....
Well, I have only gone and done it:rotfl: the last 1lb has come off, infact to be pedantic 1.4lb has come off this week so I am done, all finished:T
I found the best way to get rid of it was calorie counting and will continue to do so, it is about keeping an eye on it all now...
petrichor where do you buy your wholemeal pitta bread from? Tried in sainsburys and waitrose but they have none, how many calories are in each one? I buy Nimble wholemeal or WW brown bread and have a self imposed restriction to 2 slices a day normally for lunch with soup.... I used to buy a french stick and the kids were lucky to see a crumb of it once I had taken my slice of what I thought I needed:rotfl: :rotfl: don't buy french sticks now.
I am soon to ban crisps in the house also, terrible bad mother that I am but H and I stopped eating them and it is really only the kids that open their mouths to fat!! Will see if they like the ryvita crisps which I do or the light ones....0 -

Victory, I banned crisps a long time ago so you are not the only one whos a bad mum LOL!! In fact the kids quickly got used to it and now always take a really healthy packed lunch to school and they love fruit now - when noses turned up at it before! Chuck out those crisps! Less temptation for us. Well done on your victory, victory! Hope you can keep it off for ever - thats what I hope to do when I get there! If you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0

What do your kids have instead of crisps? Fruit always or biscuits? I buy plain digestive biscuits for their munchies or fruit or they make themselves a sandwich with that peel back cheese, I hate that stuff but they love it so I am not tempted if it was a slab of cheese that is different so don't buy cheese for me or H and he has never said to have it replaced....
The kids love the sugar free jelly and yogurts, never managed to get them into fromage frais or 0% greek yogurt but the muller light ones they love so that is something else they can have instead of crisps...0 -
They take yoghurts and fruit and there was a good discussion about alternatives to crisps - might be in OS - ill find it for you if I can and let you know. Cooking pitta bread (cut into triangles) works well and kids love them. I also make vegetable crisps by slicing vegs and spraying with fry light and baking - they love them too.
Be back soon with the link. BBxIf you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0 -
