LOL Petrichor - I know you were just checking to see if any of us were actually awake this morning with regards to the list.
Forgot to say earlier:
Congrats to all losers and I also love fishfingers^^ One of my hangover cures on Sat was fishfingers (in batter) sarnies with tomato sauce. The oddest thing about that is I NEVER eat tomato sauce
... and already a couple of more new friends to welcome
Vixx - don't beat yourself up about breakfast and don't waste time with Special K (just my opinion mindst but I believe it is a waste of money!). The old adage is 'Breakfast like a king, supper like a pauper' - eat lots early and next to nothing late on. Another theory is that eating earlier kicks your metabolism into waking up but breakfast for me can be any time between 7.15 am and 11.00 am. If you can't face Special K try eating a small pc of fruit, a small slice of toast with cottage cheeze, just a yogurt or even 1 weetabix or 1 shredded wheat.
I believe 'b's' also refer to slimming world not sure where it was noticed though so could be wrong. Whenever I see it I equate it to the SW HEB choice which covers bread, cereal, crispbreads etc...0 -
juststarting wrote: »Can anyone tell me which is better a wholemeal pitta bread with low fat filling or 2 slices of wholemeal bread with same filling? OH would always say the pitta but when looking on the packet there is about the same ammount of cals and fat in both but more carbs in the pitta. Or is it horses for corses?
I'm going 'horses for courses'! Although I love the SW diet they still maintain the 57g of wholemeal bread can be consumed as HEB (ergo 'free') whereas wholemeal pittas are 7.5 sins. I switch pittas for bread - much, much nicer as you can get a lot more free filling inside one of them. (But I always write on my meal planner which is handed in for checking that I had bread !!!)0 -
welcome all newbies from a very newby myself.
Well done efrieze and Annie om your unlisted weightloss in June - excellent
Vixx don't have special K for breakfast if you don't enjoy it. Find something you can look forward too - this applies to all meals, then this becomes a much more enjoyable and sustainable way of eating. I don't like cereal at all in the morning so I have things like steamed salmon with poached egg and a few bits of steamed brochli, or ham and ryvita with fruit.
Can't imagine skipping any meals myself
Vixx and Jo 'B's' are also from SW and relates to 2 'Healthy Extras' you have to have each day (too varied to list all the options here).
Lois, thanks for the pasta bake recipe - will try this week as cooking roast veg Tues. Will also get some cajun spice in Petrichor (aka the mega organised one) as it sound delicious. :T
Can I recommend macaroni cheese for 2)
160g macaroni
27g sauce flour, (you don't need any butter with sauce flour)
300ml semi skim milk
84g mature half fat cheese
this totals 2.5 syns on a green day on SW (and that's for the flour. Cheese and milk = HE's)
Narrowly avoided scrumtious cream tea after walk yesterday so feeling virtuous. Hope it shows on the scales this week :rotfl:

xI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Cheers for that I have to admit that I have really been cutting down my carb intake as I know thats the reason I have been putting on weight. I will try and get the right balance. Could I also ask you is it true that you should not have late meals if you are trying to lose weight?
Manic, no problem, glad to help in whatever way I can. I hit the gym 5 or 6 times a week, doing plain cv work, normally 20 mins on the bike and 21 mins on the cross (elliptical) trainer this works out to 360 cals and 420 cals = 780 on average. Yesterday though I added some jogging and it pushed i upto 1137 cals. My intention is to lose 13lb by 12th August as I go on holiday then. That will have taken me to around just short of 10stone lost since Feb 2006. If I can then anyone can
With regards to eating late, I always find it hard to eat early evening, and I have thought and believed that eating late in day doesnt help matters, however I found this and now wonder? Proud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

...Cazxx 2 stone in 2 months, it has been done but whatever you lose will make you feel a heck of a lot better, so give it your best and Good Luck! You'll get all the support you need here:T ..
...Vixx I can't cope with breakfast either, I know they say it's the most important meal of the day and I can understand why, but I still can't whack it, the odd times that I do I end up eating for the rest of the day!! (I don't know what the b's are either, I've scrolled back and can't see what you mean, if it's in one of my posts it's perhaps just a typping errer :rotfl: )...
...nettleby I think you should find it quite easy, considering you've managed to maintain a weight, just cutting out midmeal snacks sounds right to me, but if you need to do more then there is loads of help here...
juststarting Personally I would opt for the wholemeal pitta, the ones I have are slightly lower in cals, but even if yours are the same as two slices of wholemeal bread I would still go for the pitta as I find them more fillingdon't know why though, could be to do with carbs stuff but I just go on calories, sorry I can't be of more help...
...:j :j Well Done!! Marion :j :j ...

Welcome to all the newbies, and well done to those who have already weighed in this week and have lost or maintained.
I'm at home with my daughter who's feeling poorly and I just want to eat! Have cleaned living room thoroughly and came on here - but must eat something healthy soon!
Take care everyone and catch you all later BB xIf you don't have something nice to say don't bother saying anything at all.0 -
Thanks to everyones warm welcome and the wonderful replies, seems i don't have to eat cardboard after all but at the same time i obviously have a lot to learn.
Any tips on where a total beginner should start? Obviously i know i gotta eat more heathly and stop eating whole packets of biscuits to my self :rotfl: but where do i get the lovely recipes from, and is joining a slimming club worth it or just something you could do at home with out the club?
My hubby is also willing to eat healthy with me which is fantastic :T
Also i think i would like to do the 5lb thingy, think it will give me an aim.0 -

Suggs is obviously a pro at all this stuff but I just wanted to add my opinion about eating late. For me, the more I eat close to going to bed, the hungrier I am when I wake up so it is better for me to eat a big meal as early as I can in the evening to avoid this hunger in the morning. That said, the earlier you eat dinner, the more likely you will feel peckish later on in the evening and then hit the cupboards looking for anything to fill the gap. It is impractical for me to eat dinner defore 8pm (usually - due to small child) but it works for me. I guess it just depends on what works for your own circumstances.0 -
