I have about 4 stone to lose in total, but i thought if you were serious about losing weight brekfast was the key  i will give it a week or two, but its very hard to eat brekfast i'm a coffee and fag kinda girl :rotfl:

    Can I join in?
I'd like to get rid of around 10 kilos, or around 20lbs. I started at 88kg a couple of weeks back.

I'm just cutting out picking in between meals as that should hopefully tip the balance from maintaining this weight to dropping a bit.

    Morning Manic

Very quickly, as I have to take the car in for a service. If your doing two sessions a day on the treadmill, then drinking more fulid will need to be backed up by eating more carbs and complex ones at that, pasta, bananas and that sort of thing. Protein I am sure will help as well.

I will have a scout around when I get back, but in short its all about refuelling between sessions as the weak feeling in your legs, sounds to me as a drop in the bodies glycogen stores.

    hope that helps.

Cheers for that I have to admit that I have really been cutting down my carb intake as I know thats the reason I have been putting on weight. I will try and get the right balance. Could I also ask you is it true that you should not have late meals if you are trying to lose weight?

syns is from Slimming World, which a few of us are doing on here. B's not sure myself:confused:

Casper, the July challenge is to try to loose 5lb by the AUgust date. It doesnt matter what you loose each week, or even if you meet the challenge. No one beats you up if you don't:D Tho some have a great stick if you decide you do need one.:rotfl:

    hi jo

Thanx so much, would like to join please and hope to lose 5 lb by August 01st. Hopefully won't need the stick, but you never know lol. Would love to try this as it's another great incentive. thanx to everyone for your motivation and encouragement.

Am going on a beach holiday in five months and have to look good. In the last seven years I have been the fat one, (after weighing 7 1/2 stone most of my adult life) and would love to go home (South Africa) in November and enjoy myself on holiday and look fabulous! Besides it will be sooooo hot and definately calls for skimpy clothes and bikinis lol.

Lois is the roasted vegetable pasta bake on the recipes thread too?

Hi Delly - no it isn't, mainly because it has evolved from using up leftovers and store cupboard ingredients. As I mentioned, I always make extra roast vegetables, and the main reason is to increase the variety of veg I use without having half of this and half of that!

So, for a double amount of roast veg* I would use:
    2 small or 1 large red onion(s)
    1 red pepper
    1 yellow pepper
    2 courgettes
    1 aubergine

Other optional extras - baby corn, butternut squash, parsnips, asparagus, carrots - the order you put them in the oven depends on how long they take to cook.

Peel the onions and cut them into wedges. Spread them on a baking tray sprayed with frylight and put them in a fairly hot oven (200c). Deseed the peppers and cut them into large chunks, add these to the onions. Cut the courgettes and aubergine into chunks and add them to the baking tray - spray the whole lot with frylight and roast for 20-25 minutes.

In the meantime, bring a pan of water to the boil and add 200g of pasta shapes (I use fusilli). Cook for 6-7 minutes - they should be just tender, with a bite as they get further cooking in the oven. Drain and return to the pan. Stir in a carton of creamed tomatoes and a tin of chopped tomatoes, (or a jar of passata, or two tins of tomatoes) and warm through.

Put half* of the roast vegetables in the bottom of a casserole dish, then pour the pasta and tomato mixture over them.

Grate 2oz of cheddar cheese or 3oz of reduced fat cheddar cheese and sprinkle over the top. Return to the oven and bake for a further 15 mins approx, until the cheese is melted and the pasta is starting to crisp up on top.

If you're following SW this recipe is 1 HEb on green (based on 2 servings).

    * You could freeze the remaining half of the veg or save them to use with another meal, or you could do what I do, and have roast veg with a meal one day, and then use the leftovers with pasta the next day!

Morning shiny new thread, all newcomers, and Petrichor - baking already?...

I've added my name to the list and put efrieze back on 'cos they seem to have disappeared between posts :rotfl:

I've had a brilliant weekend, social and carefree. I am nearly T-total since about January this year and don't miss it tbh but had 'itchy' feet Friday and decided to go clubbing ergo 'let the vodka flow'. Of course this led to a late kebab and the usual recovering Saturday hangover food fest. So I was in my usual 'self destruct' mode but oddly am not berating myself this time. I've just got over it and got on with it again :j

Well done!! Erl for spotting the deliberate mistake  :rotfl: Sorry efrieze (I copied the wrong list, obviously I'm not on such a roll :o ). 2 lemon syrup cakes have now been completed, I did 2 cakes this time and will freeze one, very MSE :j . I'm glad you had a good weekend and enjoyed it without feeling guilty afterwards, straight back to day one, that's exactly how it should be :T ...

I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
  • Can anyone tell me which is better a wholemeal pitta bread with low fat filling or 2 slices of wholemeal bread with same filling? OH would always say the pitta but when looking on the packet there is about the same ammount of cals and fat in both but more carbs in the pitta. Or is it horses for corses?

Also I went to the gym last week ( free 3 day trial as I can't affords the rates) I really enjoyed the elloptical trainer and in 10 mins I could burn 150 cals . At home I have a similar thing called an XL glider but on this is 30 mins I only burn 100 cals can any one suggest how I can improve this? I do try and keep it at a constant speed and stride lenght.
