JHKE, I don't go to the gym, I gave up 2 years ago as a way of saving money and to be honnest don't feel I need to go anymore. I now run 3 or 4 times a week, I generally do 3 or 4 miles in the morning and on a Sunday I meet up with a friend and we do about 5 miles (a lot of talking goes on so it is a very slow 5 miles :rotfl: )
I also do the Davina MCall DVD, I generally and do the Core section (which concentrates on your Core muscles) and the Pump section which I think is similar to a bodypump class. Having said that yesterday I must have been feeling agressive as I did the cardio box section:D
I think exercise makes a huge difference when you are trying to loose weight and a increase in the amount you move will help in 2 ways, you burn more fat and tone your muscles so you look slimmer.

Well done to everyone who has lost this week and good luck to those still to weigh

    Lainie,

    Another one for you:

    Quorn Mince
    Ingredients:

Mycoprotein (88%), rehydrated free range egg white, roasted barley malt extract.

    Nutrition info: (per 100g)
    Energy - 94 cals
    Protein - 14.5g
    Carbohydrates 4.5g
    (of which sugars) 0.6g
    Fat 2.0g
    (of which saturates) 0.5g
    Fibre 5.5g
    Sodium 0.1g
(so salt equivalent will be 0.25g)

Lainie, I'd recommend the 'chicken style pieces' first up if you have never had any Quorn before. They are hugely versatile, can go in anything.

Petrichor, you know, I have never looked at the website. Bit silly really, thinking about it. I really must have a good look through when I get more time, probably tomorrow.

Joji I am gonna be a big brave boy (probably too big) and weigh in tomorrow. No idea what to expect as the weight has been fluctuating like crazy this week.

Well done you all you excellent losers :T

    Hello,

I wonder if you can help me.

I was wondering if there is an exercise video that I can use that doesn't involve jumping up and down.

I live in a 3rd floor flat and the neighbours complain if I get on my step machine so me jumping about isn't going to go down to well.....

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you
    Lydia

Ajax, expect the weight police Petrichor, Victory and Lois to name a few :) to slap you sensless for weighing yourself more than once a week. Found this article HERE Mind you you might enjoy the slap, so maybe they can tell you off instead :)

"Many experts still believe that the average person doesn't need to step on the scale on a daily basis. "Weighing daily can lead to an over-reliance on the scale and cause you to obsess about weight. Plus, the scale doesn't indicate when you've gained water weight versus fat weight versus protein and/or muscle weight," says Milton Stokes, R.D., M.P.H., a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. Instead, base your weight on how clothes are fitting and how you feel, he adds. Nancy Clark, R.D., a sports nutritionist based in Brookline, Mass., agrees. "You should look in the mirror. If you see less fat, you have less fat. Weight fluctuates and can be misleading - perhaps you are constipated, holding water from a sodium-rich Chinese meal, or premenstrual, and that's why the scale goes up."

In other words, weighing yourself can be something of a double-edged sword. It helps to get on the scale once a week, but climbing on every day may give an inaccurate reading of your weight-loss progress because there are hour-to-hour variations in body weight."

I've got one of swiss exercise ball thingies - and a video. It's not jumping about more toning exercises.

well done vixx, kat, bindi,rusty,sa1 and suggs :j :j :j to all the maintainers that is also fabulous because you must be doing it right;)

Thanks for all the nice things said about my advice, it just comes from within because from experience I know many times it has proved a tad too hard for me and when it did I talked to myself about how anyone can do it until weigh day and if it really was a bad day then told myself off by saying 'you jolly well can do it, now knuckle down and get on with it because the weight loss is more important than you giving in':D it worked for me and no I am not some mad elderly woman talking to myself, hearing voices:rotfl: :rotfl: I just know it can get hard...

I agree with suggs weighing yourself more than once a week is counter productive, there are so many reasons why a few pounds could have been gained along the way that are not necessarily permanent but can destroy the good work that has been done if you look at a gain and give in through sheer frustration or annoyance, it is always better to do it on the same day at the same time, with the same clothes on, on the same scales to get a genuine valid reading than hopping on and off the scales:D

petrichor i am hoping my kind and generous mother:eek: will allow me to go on her internet in Spain so I can still keep up with the thread and keep in touch, won't be daily I reckon but I will miss it too much to let 6 weeks go by:D

AJAX my boys had quorn burgers last night, once they looked at them, got over it and questioned 'what are these supposed to be?':rotfl: they sat at eat 3 each, so quorn burgers yeah:rotfl: I also bought the mince...

So following on from the various Quorn discussions, I have added various Quorn sausages and burgers to my Tesco shop for next week. Didn't venture into the quorn mince as I really think it doesn't look nice but I am trying to be open minded. Wish me luck...

..... ok Suggs is offcially Research-King - more excellent work. I agree with it all, just that midweek last week was a horror show and I been trying to assess since. Badly!

If you see less fat, you have less fat.

... there are some things you just can't argue with :)
