Thank you again for your responses, I didn't google "gaslighting" as am in enough of an emotional state without adding to it :)

We had a good talk last night, I did call his bluff a bit and told him if he wanted to go that badly then he knew where the door was.

I listened to him and he listened to me and we talked properly without any raised voices or crying.

He is unhappy with lots of things, actually a fair amount of them have nothing to do with me and he admitted that, he said he gets lost and then lashes out verbally and the small things that are irking him at home then get blown our of proportion in his mind, he stews on things, builds up walls etc. He admits he is wrong for the way he behaves, he has said that he is going to talk to his GP as there is also a health issue he is worried about. However I am not naive enough to think that this may actually happen, actions speak louder than words.

I listened and explained that I couldn't live like this with him blowing hot and cold.

We didn't really resolve the argument that started this. However we are talking now, time will tell how it pans out.

I have contacted CRB today for an appointment, one thing I do know that I have the arm myself with the facts of what could happen.

I do love my husband - then man he was, not necessarily the man he is at the moment, but I am not taking anymore of this.

I will keep you updated and thank you for the PM, it was really appreciated.

MSE really can be a great place, the advice on here and words of encouragement have made a great difference and I don't feel as alone.

So thank you virtual friends, you are great.

Nothing to add that hasn't already been said, but all I can say when I was going through marriage probs, this site, & getting additional info on things really helped me feel a bit more settled x

Well done loucham, very wise to do this.

It's great that you both are talking things over now and I wish you the very best for the future.
