    Hi y'all ..

My husband bought me an aluminum toolkit for my birthday in April, to keep my makeup in, but it's still got plenty of space in it.

I researched and then found a non-wood all-natural kajal pencil made in India which is lead free and bought it from an Asian shop. One swipe under the lower lash line is all it takes to get the thick black eyeliner look. Not to everyones taste but I like dramatic. Way cheaper than conventional Western kajal pencils at £2.25.

Bought some Max Factor Pan Stik in ASDA in 'Fair' for £6.98 but really, I'd call it peach and it's thick and greasy.

Got some metallic Sally Hansen nail polishes £1 each in Poundland, like the silver one.

I'm using Sainsbury's SO organic Extra Virgin olive oil 250ml £2.50 on my hair once a week and it's great. Used some argan oil treatment stuff I got in Lidl today and made my hair fluffy eek. It's currently sticking out all over the place giving me the Jedwardia look (clever whoever thought of it) without trying.

Over Bank Holiday weekend took advantage of the 25% off TU clothing at Sainsbury's and bought a jacket from womenswear and tshirts from menswear.

    Hi Guys,

I've really enjoyed this thread :)

I have few things to add. Glamour means different things to different people. To me, it's about making an effort but not going over the top! Glamour is NOT Katie Price et al.

You can, but don't NEED, to spend a fortune - I have my eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed, and all my hair is all lasered off. I have a decent hair cut and am fighting with the greys :rotfl: but seriously, your eyebrows frame your face - have them shaped (or do them yourself) and fill them in, in the morning.

I look after myself; eat healthily, don't smoke and don't drink more than twice a year at most.

Paint your nails in a beautiful nude shade - my favourites are vinylux in rubble, cityscape and impossibly plush. Never allow chipped nails! Make sure that you oil your cuticles well to keep them looking groomed.

Make sure your hair is well presented, whether you straighten it or not - and I haven't been recently.

I use a quite spray of fake tan on my face a few nights a week and then put on a bit of maybelleine mousse blusher in peach and a little concealer where needed.

My eyelashes are permed and tinted every few months and I use clear mascara each day - I got fed up with panda eyes.

I look after my skin - cleansing, toning and moisturising daily. Use an exfoliating treatment - origins never a dull moment is AMAZING! The papain literally eats away at the dead skin cells and leaves your skin looking amazing - and a mask a couple of times a week.

Make sure your clothes are clean, not shabby, and ironed.

Polish your shoes and bags to keep them looking good.

Drink plenty of water and get enough sleep.

And, finally... SMILE! I bet most of the magnetic-glamourous people described on this thread smile and have presence.

I'm delighted that you have left that relationship. You know that it wasn't true, nothing at all!

Also - do you have a job? I changed mine a wee while ago and have done very well in it, earnings 3 promotions and being told that I AM good at what I do - it's the total antidote to my ex :)

Pfffffttttt....coming back to report a less than glamorous last six weeks due to the most appalling hayfever I have ever had. I've been snotty, swollen, dehydrated, eyes raw and running, nose raw and running....what a mess. Standard hayfever treatments have not worked.

Finally managed to get it under control by using piriton liquid every four hours and a prescription nasal spray, but the eyes are still going off and watering without warning. This of course means panda eyes if I wear eye make up, and any make up I put under my eyes is being wiped off. So no Sophia Loren cat eyes for me.

That said, I've been making sure my hair looks good, my nails are painted, my clothes are clean and pressed and I'm accessorising like crazy, which includes a whacking great pair of sunglasses to hide the eyes!

I've been having a gentle face peel treatments every week for the last few weeks, and religiously using an spf moisturiser.

I've been paying attention to my feet and making sure they look good in sandals.

I'm keeping up with using the semi-permanent henna hair dye every month.

I've been tying to drink more water and eat more salads to rehydrate myself and deal with my swollen face and body.

Trying to embrace the exercise bike to get a bit more toned.

I'm also currently investigating one hour laser tooth whitening as my teeth are quite stained. I have one if those home kits someone gave me, but to be honest I'm really concerned about damaging my gums with it. Dentists offer the standard tooth whitening but that means I would have to sleep with the dental trays in, and I'm a light sleeper so I don't think I' d be able to sleep in those.

    So that's me.

Wow haven't you been doing well, I must admit I find it hard to keep it all up.
I have been absent for a while now but my endeavours are still ongoing. I have recently started anew job in a very high end accessories shop, where I am surrounded by mirrors and very glam ladies who think nothing on spending £300 on a whim.
I love what I do and am becoming more aware of what other women do. Also looking in the mirror from all angles has spurred me on to do something with my hair!!

    So recently I have....

    1. Lost a bit of weight
    2. Looking smarter and elegant for work as this is a requirement.
    3. Bought some Prada sunglasses off ebay which I love.
    4. Fake tan on my pasty legs
    5. The biggest improvement is I took the plunge and had a few hair extensions, 12 on each side of my face which fills in the area where my hair will just not grow to any length. Wow what a difference, I love it. :j

    I still need to ....

    1. Whiten my teeth with my home kit again
    2. Pull my shoulders back and stand tall.
    3. Edit my wardrobe again.
    4. Get more sleep and smile more :)

How is everyone else getting on ???

Cottage Economy Just read about your hay fever and I had to comment as I have recently become a convert to a "treatment" that I am, much to my own surprise, becoming quite evangelical about!

Your description could have been my son 3 weeks ago. Poor boy could hardly see and had a hankie attached permenantly to his nose. Was taking all the anti-histamines recommended. Has to be very careful of the nasel sprays as gets bad nosebleeds.

A friend recommended putting an air purifier in his room over night. He suggested starting with a cheap one from any retailer and getting a better one, with replaceable filters, if that worked. We were lucky and found one that retails at £218 on the bay of e for £12.50.

I honestly cannot believe the difference in him this week. He's still taking a pill each day but his eyes have stopped streaming, his nose is only a little blocked and he just generally feels so much better

I know I sound a bit OTT but the difference is so great I feel I have to tell everyone suffering from hay fever to at least try this - it might work for you!:T

Wow I have this image of you in my head of someone incredibly glamorous. I didn't know you could get your eyelashes permed !!

I don't smoke, never have or drink regularly, but I do lack sleep. This has to change.
It's always most satisfying when you are far more successful without your ex than with (it shouldn't but does really motivate me) :D

I wish I felt glamorous sometimes, I just feel like a clumsy fat lump most of the time! And I can't afford to buy lots of products or have lots of treatments.

I think I'm just feeling sorry for myself today ;) I have started using hand cream more and a bit of tinted moisturiser in the mornings though :)

Im not glamorous, in fact I think Im the opposite of glamourous. Im in my mid 40s, I have decent skin, its quite sensitive though. Money is fairly tight in my world. I get my hair coloured at a local college, £10 for a cut and two colours. I dont wear a lot of make up. Ive never had a spray tan, its just not me.

Ive had a couple of massages this year as I need to keep my body in good order as I teach fitness classes, again, both at a local college.

Ive also bought a groupon where I'll get a facial and a mini massage. Ive always been wary of facials because my skin is so sensitive.

I use superdrug face packs, they seem to agree with my skin. I do my own nails. And a lot of what I wear comes from the local charity shops, I went out the other night and wore a pair of bright blue jeans which cost me £1 and a sparkly top that my mum got me from the red cross that also cost a few pounds.

I prefer bright nail varnish and Im a sucker for anything sparkly. What made a difference for me was losing weight, Ive battled with my weight on and off for a long time, but Im doing ok with that now.

I have to say sometimes my hair is the absolute opposite of well presented, its long and I spent most of my life with it tied back, its also wavy, I spend most of my time trying to get it under control.

Again, I really like superdrugs own brand conditioner, its 99p for a decent sized pot and just as good as others Ive tried including frizz ease.

I cook with coconut oil, but its also great for your skin. Tried it on my hair but felt it left it way too oily.

Ooooooooo....i've got one in the loft! I completely forgot about it!

I bought it a few years ago when lack of money to pay for a cleaner meant there was thick dust everywhere, and kept setting my rhinitis off.

Thank you so much for reminding me about it!

Honestly, if you saw how puffy I am you wouldn't think I've been doing well at all.

Well done on the new job!

I started a new part time job about three weeks ago and, like you, that has spurred me on to take a bit more care about my appearance. New jobs are fantastic for kick starting new routines, I just have to make sure that I don't slide into frumpiness once I've get comfy there.

I found some really lovely scarves at a car boot sale the other week (in an attempt to hide my puffy neck). One of them is white with little sausage dogs in them. Everyone comments about how cute it is when I wear it, and it's led to all sorts of great conversations with my new colleagues, especially the dog lovers.

Ok, after reading up on some reviews for the whitening kit I have, I took the plunge this morning and had a go. I have to use it twice a day for 14 days. It seems ok...no pain at all and the 20 minutes passed quite quickly. My teeth looked absolutely squeaky clean after...

I'm now thinking about having my eyeslashes done after reading what freyasmum said.
