Now my mess ups have been sorted I placed my first order with ii on the evening of the 19th

Logged in on the evening 20th and still in the order list.

Logged in 5:30pm on the 21st still in the order list.

Called and asked why they had not bought, was told that the deal was done on the 20th and they waiting for prices to update account.

Deal done on the 21st and confirmed this morning.

    Pffft...

I'm consolidating my funds at HL to reduce my number of holdings prior to transfer. I placed a switch order and the sell was done on 19/5 and the corresponding buy on 21/5, so it's not just III that miss a day.

I have recently set up, and traded on, an S&S ISA with ii and a SIPP with Fidelity and I must say that I have had a far better experience with ii.

Both are low cost services (which is why I chose them - they fit my particular mix of investments) but in my experience ii is far better at communicating with the customer. I had a real mix up with Fidelity over my monthly payment plan which took several frustrating phone calls to sort.

However I appreciate that in the end a lot is down to individual experience and it's up to us to make sure that we keep an eye on the ball whoever we deal with.

has anyone been buying a selling shares with II? and if so, how quickly are they trading?

In my experience the simple answer to your question is, instantaneously.

I don't see how it could be anything else as the price quoted is the price you buy at. Any delay would expose the platform to the risk of the price moving (which it almost certainly would - one way or the other).

I think this happens to everyone, because I had the same thing, in fact it took between 1 and 4 days for everything to show up. But when it did, it said the same date on all of them. TBH I am not too bothered since I am long term holder of funds, so in my 15 year a few days doesn't really make much of a difference.

If I was holding shares however it would be a different story.

What really bugs me with Fidelity is, if you swap money from one fund to another (eg sell/buy in one instruction), the money/fund dissappears from your account for a few days. No confirmation of transcation details, no message, no information at all, apart from an email saying you have done 'something'. A few days later the new fund turns up, and a few days after that the details of the transcation appear in a 'document'.

Mine took longer to be notified than I'm used to from H-L but the deals were done on the right date.

I answered this question earlier but from other posts it looks as though you might have been talking about funds not shares.

Clearly funds are an all-together different proposition.

    Or am I missing something?

I am weighing up the other costs of the flat fee platform of iii versus the other platforms I use.
If I hold a fund on the iii platform does a switch to another fund cost £20 (£10 to sell and £10 to buy)?

Yes, it's two actions/trades so it will cost you £20.
