My main issue has been spurious fund classes that make it very difficult to pick out the correct one to buy. I wish they would just remove everything from their site that is not available to trade.
I go through the "trading" website and go as if to do a trade to find the available funds. But I agree the research ability on the research website is mediocre to say the least.
I use Trustnet and H-L for proper research.

is anyone else finding they sometimes have this problem?
No, never had that problem. However, I can never log on to my account in the non-trading site. They have tried to fix it but without success.

My relative is now cross and flummoxed - HL have confirmed they have received his ISA transfer request from II (a couple of funds in specie and a substantial cash balance) but have sent him a form on which he has to confirm the instructions already given to II or to cancel the transfer.

I explained that other people (including me) have experienced the same but as he very logically said,

"When I have requested a building society/ bank to organise the transfer of a cash isa to themselves, the institution from which I am transferring has never asked me to reconsider or to confirm my instructions - why should HL in the case of a stocks and shares ISA?"

    Any answers?

I'm getting caught out even doing that. There are certain classes of fund it will let you trade, but the order will immediately fail and after a short delay the trading costs are refunded. So if you don't know for example whether it's the class D or the class FD units with (identical charging structure and KIID) you should be buying, you have to go to another broker to check which classes they have available.

    It's not good, is it.

I'm considering sending them a letter with a rant about:
    - the slowness of the transfer
    - the delay in receiving dividends
    - the problems with logging into their website
    - the inability to change my preferences
    - the delay in allowing me trading access to money sent to them by cheque from banks and brokers

But I fear that it will do me about as much good as punching myself in the mouth, as it has when I have complained by phone. They are charming and apologetic and do ... FA.

I suppose there couldn't be some obscure regulation in respect of stocks and shares ISA transfer?

Has anybody experienced this "doubling up" from any other platform?

Actually, I'm getting really pee'd off with the whole sorry saga; can't believe how long it takes to transfer funds.
