Hi ani*fan, congrats on being almost below the 16k mark :T Seeing the debt go down is a great motivator, I always get super excited to update my signature even if its only a few pounds paid off (sad I know!)Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31
Mortgage overpayment savings - £16.85/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £800.960 -
I just calculated that once my payments have all gone out on the 1st of September, my debt will fall to £15,982.5. So under £16k.
If I wasn't motivated before then I certainly am now. Result!
The challenge now is to stick to the budget for the month.

I wish! He just took the amp, gave me the cash and ran. Oh well.
I went to M and S today with £3 of vouchers and got myself a nice dinner. I love vouchers. :T
My legs are a wee bit sore tonight from all the walking. It feels really good, I know they're getting a good stretch.
Me and Mr Furry Purrball are on a reduced diet. He's on half a pouch of whiskas twice a day instead of a whole pouch and I'm doing things like one Weetabix for breakfast instead of two. And it's been peanut butter sandwiches for lunch all week. It can't hurt to be a bit more frugal with the food buying.
No road tax rebate cheque yet. I'm not sure how long this will take to come but I'm kind of impatient. Anyone have any idea how long it takes? I can't believe how simplified and cheap everything seems with no car. No insurance, no road tax, no breakdown cover, no parking fees, especially the one for outside my house, no petrol and no constant worry that the car will need work and a big bill will come.
This has made me think about the need for an emergency fund. There will be no car emergency so I don't need to prepare for that. I live in a rented flat so if the cooker or freezer or boiler pack in then my landlord will have to replace it and not me. Can anyone think of any other kind of emergency I might need to prepare for? Right now there seems to be no need for a fund for this.If you know you have enough, you're rich.

Dental, prescriptions, glasses if you wear them, eye tests.......hmmm all health orientated!
Rail ticket/ bus ticket/car hire/ air fare............if you needed to get back to family quickly??
Mr Furry Purball's vet fees - or do you have insurance?
Dont think you would need a huge amount but best to have something just in case?Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Thanks Igamogam, for helping me think. Hmm...prescriptions are free up here, NHS dentist is very cheap and I'm getting free treatment right now at the dental hospital, no glasses, eyes are fine but most places do a free test, furry purrball...that's a good one. He's in fine health right now but no, I don't have him insured. Maybe I should open a savings account and call it the purrball fund.

I am in serious need of some clothes but it's not exactly an emergency. My family are talking about a big holiday next year for my dad's important birthday, but that's not an emergency either. If everyone can go then I'll find the money from somewhere but it's a fair wee while away yet.
I've been studying all day so a nice no spend day for me. Now it's time for my half bottle of wine and the x factor. I'm living the dream!

Just remembered, professional association fees, £150 due in January I think so need to start saving for that.
Also, last time it was due I paid my tv license outright (on a credit card, lol!) and it will be needing renewed at some point just no idea when.
Still thinking...wish I was rich. :cool:If you know you have enough, you're rich.

I always remember Frugal Queen (I know some people don't like her but she has a lot of tough love) saying that an emergency is something you can't foresee so Xmas/Birthdays always happen the same day every year.
We all know that eventually appliances will go wrong, the cat will need treatment, a tooth will crack - these are not emergencies. These are things that will always happen in life and need to be saved for but of course if your pot has just started you might not have the money in there so would need to borrow from the emergency pot.
Now of course I only do some of the above, I just like to tell
others about it:rotfl:0
