    So I'm trying to sell my amp...AGAIN!!! And have also added the drum kit. Fingers crossed someone buys these. I'm still looking around my flat for more stuff that I don't use any more that might sell.

    I realised today that if I had no debt and with no car my disposable income every month would be around £800. I don't even know what I'd do with all that cash but I am more motivated than ever to clear the debt.

    Happy weekend everyone! :)

    £800 a month wow that is a huge incentive to get debt free :D Think of all the things you could do with that. My plan once I'm debt free is to then save all the money I would have spent on debt repayments for a deposit for a wee place of our own.

    That's a brilliant motivator misstara, and great for you and your OH. I have no idea what I'll save up for once this debt is gone. I don't know if I want a house, or a flat, but at my age I should probably start thinking about these things. Maybe I'll want to be car free forever too so I won't need to save for a car. I just don't know.

    I've decided to set myself a challenge. I am going to repay the Virgin credit card in 12 months.

    :eek::eek::eek:

    I've been playing with the snowball calculator and if I overpay the debt by £300 every month for a year then the card will be gone by this time next year.

    Things are really changing. I feel like I finally understand that this money is not mine. When my wage arrives it needs to be spent on debt repayment.

    So I'm turning my usual strategy on it's head. My wage will be used to overpay. And all the small ways I used to make extra money for the debt, mystery shops, selling things, these will now be used for extra things for me.

    Wish me luck my friends. It all starts on payday this Thursday.

  • Best of luck. There's no reason for you not to do it. As recently evidenced by the car sale, you are clearly able to act quickly once you commit to stuff. Have you any pennies left pre payday to start the slush fund?

    Nice one Ani :) Spare Penny Slush Fund good idea - I throw all the loose change that is in my purse on a weekend into a tin - this has become a very useful slush fund:)

    Thanks INOD and Igamogam

    It made me feel quite tearful to think how much faith you both have in me...I must be pre- mental! :o

    I have around £20 left in my account to start the slush fund. This is good. I also haven't counted in the car tax refund so I'll stick that in there too when it arrives. I also have a buyer for the amp...yippee...who is prepared to pay £40 and pick it up next week so that will go in there too.

    That all adds up to about £130. I'm off to a good start I think. :)

    It seems to be forthcoming indeed. I can't help thinking it all started with a change in attitude that I've been trying to muster up for years and has just finally happened!

    I'll be cancelling my car insurance today once their phone lines open. I have a horrible feeling they'll want to charge me for that. And how much, who knows, need to wait and see.

  • whatever the admin charge is, you'll still be saving money by cancelling this. don't be worrying. whatever hits you, you'll be able to deal with it.
