Just wanted to let everyone know that I have snipped up all 3 of my credit cards. I am now living a credit free life. The available credit is no longer considered my cash to spend; these are debts and they need to go.

To anyone who hasn't done this yet, I would strongly advise that you do. It makes you feel amazing. The world does not stop, you can still do things you used to do like buy the things you need online, book a hotel, etc etc. We don't need credit cards.

Amazing accomplishment! I've hidden all my cards but haven't quite got to the chopping them up stage... part of me is waiting until the debt is gone to have a ritual chop session I think but I should probably just do it now!!

    Hi there. :)

I did it by cutting up one and then waiting a few weeks to see if I died, or something. I didn't. Everything was fine, so I cut up the next one.

Try it, you'll love it. :D

I could do with some advice on a ppi reclaiming situation.

I phoned NRAM to claim ppi on an old mortgage. They put me on to Cardiff Pinnacle who gave me all the policy details, dates and everything I need to claim it from NRAM. Back on the phone to NRAM, who took the details of my complaint and said they would process it.

Now I get a letter from NRAM saying they cannot find my policy adn I need to provide a valid policy number. Is this stalling tactics do you think? SHould I phone Cardiff P back and check the number? Or send a letter to NRAM repeating the details?

Any advice would be great but really, just the moral support to deal with this would also be a help.

p.s. There is not a lot of money at stake here, maybe £100 if I'm lucky, but I figured it can't hurt to try and get some cash back.

Check number. Get back to NRAM with result. Stick at it and don't take no for an answer. We have claimed PPA back with very little information other than ,we had a mortgage with you and belive we are owed refund on PPI' !! They may well be stalling . The secret is not to take no for an answer. Have you used MSE template letters? Don't use a third party BMW and have you factored in the interest that is added to any refund due to you ? Good luck :D

ETA: There is lots of good advice on the PPI threads but I found there is equally a lot of sceptical doom-mongers so beware!!

Thanks for that Igamogam. I'm going to phone Cardiff P then NRAM tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how I get on.
