  • I have been eating low carbs for a while now. If I do eat any they will be from things like wholegrain bread (I make my own) oats and fruit + vegetables.

Last night I made Portobello Mushroom burgers, with spinach and cheese on wholegrain rolls. Combined with home made coleslaw. (Cabbage, red onion + grated carrot. Just add mayo to your liking)

If anything I had bread left over, so Il just create the base with it to only use a single roll.

Tonight, as its fairly warm. Im going to have spinach, peppers, hard boiled egg, lettuce and some coleslaw.

  • Hi lowcarbers!
I do now and have done low carb before. I hope that others will post here too!
Lost weight in past but let things slip due to ill health. Realising I feel so much better when low carbing.
Today's bfast is 2xbacon, 1 x egg,1 x mushroom 2 x bratwurst sausages. .lidls zero carbs.made by nuremburg at lidl..the lite ones are zero carbs the normal ones are 1carb.
got coffee and cream to wash it down.
Lunch will be a handful of green leaf salad with advocado/cheese/chicken/ham
usually a bit of them all if they are in the fridge!
Dinner tonight is 2 x quarterpounder beef burgers with cheese served on handful of green leaf salad and bit spring onion. I usually put a dollop of full fat mayo mixed with mustard under each burger.
If I want something sweet I have raspberry sugar free jelly and a tablespoon of marscapone ontop..I sometimes put a few raspberries in the bottom of the jelly.
Lots of water and a few almonds or small pkt pork scratchings if I want a snack..or a stick of celery with peanut butter.
Have good lc day all and keep posting!
Life happens when you are busy making other plans ;)

Hi All, at last someone active on the site, had a bad start today at 6-10 am, lost the dog, 2 hrs searching and getting neighbours to help, found her. I was going swimming today but that`s off now as I`m knackered, at least I got plenty of exercise.
So far I have had a piece of toast, I like the Burgens Soya and Linseed, 11 carbs a slice,as an occasional treat, as couldn`t be bothered to do some eggs, plan on a salad at lunch also, possibly cheese or see what cooked meats I have, and tonight doing broccoli and ham in a low carb sauce.
I seldom get to lidl but have an Aldi less than a mile away, I do most of my shopping there, I will look at their Bratwurst sausage as that sounds tasty.

Hi guys ... Is it ok to join in?

I'm looking at lowering carbs, and if I am successful maybe go onto eating this way in bigger depth.

I am vegetarian but do eat fish and dairy; but my main downfall is I LOVE bread. I normally buy YS bread and freeze it, so what would be the best to look out for. Or has anybody any bread maker recipes?

I still have lots of ingredients in my cupboards that I will have to incorporate due to having children and budget restraints. So i'm looking to good carbs or carb alternatives to normal things I would eat.is courgette ribbons for pasta, cauli rice for the, sweet potatoes ...that kind of thing.

I tried this morning (but hadn't read up enough first) and ended up having bread (two slices of bread), boiled eggs and avacado. Then I had a craving for chocolate, as I have had a stinking cold/cough all week and needed something naughty. Lapse of judgement on my part. Not sure what to have for tea. I was going to have goulash, but then I'll probably have to have rice/pasta.

Any advice/ideas grateful. Links to online menu plans as opposed to individual recipes or useful websites even more appreciated.

Will try and post when I can ... have subscibed, so I don't forget where you all are !!

Truthfully, the best thing is to develop a love of the weight that you lose because of not eating bread.......

I've been naughty today, had a free cake and coffee voucher for John Lewis which ran out tomorrow, so went for it big time with chocolate fudge cake. Yesterday I had millionaire's shortbread when I met up with a friend, plus fish and chips for dinner. Oh dear, not good.

But back on the wagon again from tonight. Dinner is slow cooked lamb shank (Sainsbury frozen microwaveable) and cauliflower rice.

As far as breakfast is concerned we usually have full fat Greek yogurt with berries - either strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or black cherries. Occasionally I'll do the full English without beans or bread, but we've mainly had yogurt every day for the past year, not tired of it yet.

Hi all, loving ham and eggs for breakfast, had a cauliflower pizza for lunch, had to tweak it a bit with cheddar, as I did a biggish low carb shop yesterday, lots of meat and veggies, forgot the mozarella the recipe called for, like K9sandFelines I am trying to use up all my high carb ingredients, by adding in where I can afford to carbwise. I did have some quorn sausage, I find those reasonable tastewise, with eggs yesterday for a change.

    Hi peeps!

As I may have mentioned I don't call myself low carb anymore as my choices have changed. However I do know that if you want to low carb you need choices.

I initially found it a bit restrictive on 'treats' cakes etc. Well, if you do cut out most sugar for 2 weeks - you will lose the will for sugar :) LOL it's actually true.

There are many sweet things on the recipe list - all low carb.

For 'bread people' check out the flax bread recipes - not bread but enough to 'make an open sandwich' As an add, the flax helps with dietary transit and is pretty much 0 carbs :)

I love this WayOfEating and do still employ it in most choices.

May I celebrate one thing I come back to very often?
The last on the list. Mercy's flax, fruit and nut bread. It's not for folk who are going serious but it is nice and if made to the instructions and cut to the instructions - can make a nice sweet thing, toasted with butter, to finish things off. I've been told that if once cool, you slice it and freeze - easy to sort for a simple sweet fix as toast.

But you can - of course adjust it as you would like :)

Anyway, I'm making it later as I like it :)

    Big love, lovely low carbers!

Also, for cracker requiring folk, may I draw your attention to
    Flax cracker type thing

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=21062963&postcount=1321

You can do them any size on a greased plate. They will last for 3 days (minimum - never lasted longer with me :) ) in a container in the fridge.

I liked to take one of the round things then melt brie on top :) scrummy!
But maybe that's just me :)

You have to make compromises - but they don't all have to fall on the side of 'awful' :)
