Hi folks :hello:,
I'd ask if I can join in, but it looks like maybe you've all abandoned this thread - but thanks for the recipes, I'll refer to them!
I watched a film on the mercola website about a 41 year old man who dramatically improved his health by cutting all carbs, and increasing fat and protein intake. Low carbing seems to be the closest thing to that! So I've been on that (was food combining but it was working very very slowly - like 1kg a month). The only thing is that I think my OH has a dairy intollerance... so no butter or cheese for him! Have to find more ways of using nut butters and coconut oil.
So far, in about a week, I've lost about 2kg - I'm down to 80kg, need to lose another 10kg really.... and then keep it off, which is more of a challenge!0 -
Nope I don't think we haven't abandoned the thread. To be honest I don't think carbs are bad for health (in a good meadure) but obviously they often need to be cut down when it comes to diet.
Re fats they are pretty dangerous for gaming weight. I do love cheeses for example (the fatter they are the better they taste) but I try not to eat them, I consider them a treat.Hi folks :hello:,

Yoohoo...! Anyone around? I'm just about to start low carb again, did it 10 years ago and lost loads of weight but over the past couple of years it's been creeping back up again!
Hopefully starting a new job next month in London and I want a clean skate, fresh start and all that!
Yesterday's foooood
Brunch: fried eggs, bacon, mushrooms
Dinner: steak and tomatos
Today's food
Brunch: mahoosive omelette with onions, bacon and spinach in with salad
Dinner: breaded chicken fillet!not good but I was knackered after a 13 hr shift and couldn't face waiting for my salmon fillet to bake, I'll have it tomorrow!
I hope everyone comes back?! I used to post on the slimming world thread but low carb works better for me, I wish this thread was as busy as SW!!Credit Card Debt:[STRIKE]£12991[/STRIKE] £12526

Hi I'm just about to start again on low carb, like you did it about 5 years ago really successful. Have been on simmers world for a while but need a change. I have also gained more weight around my middle and as this is such a health risk want to tackle this. I found low carb brilliant for losing fat around this area. So here goesSCP # 034

I'm still doing low carb. Lost 5 stone so fat this year! I don't believe healthy fats are bad for you obviously! My blood tests have never been better.
There are some good low carb sites on Facebook which are very popular. I follow OKL group which is low carb, high fat and moderate protein. Very good group with lots of scientific studies to back them up. Although I don't eat loads of fats on my plate I'm still burning high fat as you count the fat from your body as well. When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -

Oh I'm glad you're around thenyes, same, my mid section and boobs are the trouble! I end up looking bigger than I am and it's a nightmare for clothes shopping, esp for dresses!
My downfall atm is being too tired to make anything when I get in, I think I'm going to head to Morrisons today and pick up lots of cold meat slices and cheese and prawns and cook a batch of hard boiled eggs so I can grab something straight from the fridge!
So brunch I expect will be scrambled eggs and bacon, or maybe prawns mixed in and I don't know whether I'll eat before or after work... Start at 6pm but don't know whether I'll be in for 3 hrs or 6!Credit Card Debt:[STRIKE]£12991[/STRIKE] £12526

Wow, 5 stone?! Amazing! And I bet you feel amazing for it too... I know how much better I feel when I'm slimmer and fitter, it seems ridiculous when you think about it, why I find it so difficult to stick to doing something that I KNOW will make me feel so much better!!!!

Hi Guys. I am also LCing. Specifically, Atkins.
I've been doing it since 31st August and have had one or two slip ups (Mostly to do with being skint lol!) Nevertheless, I have lost 17.2lbs since then so not bad going at all.
I did Atkins around 10 yrs ago and lost 30+ pounds and felt fantastic. I have since got married, given birth twice and now need to lose the weight I have piled on.
Friends and family have started noticing the weight loss and have made comments - I have found this to be a real boost and has steered me back on track.
As mentioned before, I really struggle with this WOE when we are skint.
What are your go to meals/snacks for cheapness?
How're you all getting on? x0 -
I can't really advise re snacks as I find that eating this way I simply don't snack! It doesn't even cross my mind to be honest as I am not hungry. I do find however that planning ahead is vital. It's no good to open the fridge a half hour before dinner with no idea what you are going to make!
Breakfast for me this morning was coffee with cream x 2, 2 strips back bacon, 3 chipolata sausages from a free range animal with minimum filler, 3 eggs fried in the fat from the bacon and half cup sliced mushrooms and a large handful of fresh spinach. After that lot I won't eat again till about 7pm tonight.
Tonight's dinner is a half lamb shank cooked in the slow cooker served with steamed cauliflower and purple sprouted brocolli. After that if I still fancy something (unlikely!), I have some sugar free jelly in the fridge which has fresh strawberries in. A bowl of that with double cream poured over and I'm good till breakfast the next morning, normally around 9 am.When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
Hi 'retiredlady' - Marion, I think? I remember you from Slimming World threads! Overnight oats or a rice pudding? The oats in particular are legendary at my group, but if I eat oats I'm starving by 10am although it is delicious!.
I've been doing SW for three and a half years. Lost five stone but now put back on just over a stone, and could do with a change. I've done low-carb before and really missed fruit, but want to give it another go.
You mentioned a Facebook low-carb group. What was it as haven't been able to find it? Are you doing low-carb/paleo? I've followed this before. http://www.dietdoctor.com/ but wondered which plan you follow.
Thanks for any advice. And hello to everyone else on this thread and TIA for any advice. I will be going back and rereading the postings.
Regards - Louise0
