Hi arbroath lass! I love the wraps from Pret A Manger - I think they are low carbs and stuffed with healthy things (especially if you go for the vegetarian option) Sa
Can anyone make suggestions for a lunches? I've been having salads which I'm enjoying because I still get the tasty bits:rotfl:. As it gets warmer, though, I like to eat outside. We only have a bench at work, plus it is a bit breezy so salads don't really work.

Hi everyone :hello: can I join in? I've just found this thread.

I've been on Atkins for two weeks and lost 9lbs so far (7 and 2.5).

I'm off work, I was taken home yesterday because I felt so awful. Not sure what it is but could be sinusitis (I do have sinus problems but not usually this bad), some bug that is "going about" or "low carb flu" (after 2 weeks?). I'm hoping it's not the lc because I've eaten some stuff I shouldn't have whilst feeling ill.

I've done Atkins and vlc diets before and never felt this bad so hopefully not that.

I've set my initial target  at 70lbs. I have a LOT to lose and that takes me to a significant figure (for me). I'll reassess after that.

I'm loving the recipes posted as I'm not very imaginative. I did have celeriac oven chips on Saturday evening but they are not for me. I didn't have any curry powder but did put a fair bit of dried chillies on them. They are too sweet for me. Might try the cauli mash/rice instead as I do like cauli.

I've just had a delivery of zero pasta from Approved Foods so I can have a wee bit of occasional "normality". Hopefully they are ok - I do appreciate I need to add sauces.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their lc journeys.

I felt pretty bad about a week and a couple of days in. Like a really heady hangover. I slept it off and then felt great. Good luck with it.

In regards to lunches - pretty sure Prets wraps are pretty carby but you could make wraps out of slices of ham with fillings such as cream cheese and salad? I have to say I am pretty boring when it comes to lunches - there is a lot of baby leaf spinach, meat and cheese going on but I find it easy to organise.

Thank you, I think it is my sinuses. I am feeling the pain there now.

The nearest Pret a Manger is 70 miles away - probably just as well! I like the idea of wraps made with ham.

I guess I just have to stop thinking "sandwich" and actually anything I can eat from a Tupperware box with a fork will be ok. Maybe even some soup on the not so warm days (I live in hope of hot summer days, lol).

    .

The zero noodles are a bit odd, don't expect them to be too much like pasta. I like them best with pesto and cheese and find them very filling like that. Ds really likes them and has eaten so many that I had to order some more.

Re: lunches, You could try making low carb bread; I used to use the recipe to make low carb pizza and have that cold for lunch. I have also seen a low carb pastry recipe (mostly soya flour) which worked for pasties. There are also soups, salad wraps (in a lettuce leaf)and any leftovers. Patatas Bravas from the idiot proof diet cookbook makes a good lunch too and isn't bad cold.

I weighed myself yesterday - even after my hen do 2: afternoon tea and tons of booze on Sat I still lost a pound. One pound away from my wedding goal weight and still over 3 weeks to the wedding so I am happy. Hope everyone else is doing ok :)

M and S used to do a wrap. But the wrap was an omelette. This may make a good lunch with selected fillings?

I know the principles of Atkins and I would stay I pretty much stick to them but I haven't actually read the book and would just call what I am doing 'low carb' as I haven't really stuck to a specific plan. I also read the Idiot Proof diet which is very similar to Atkins.

    Hi

I followed Atkins a couple of years ago and it really worked as I lost 6+ stone in a year. I then put back 2 and a half stone last year and now it doesn't work for me but I stay under 100 carbs and am trying to combine that with the 5:2 diet in the hope that the weight will come off again.

It seems that you only get one good shot at low carb and then, if you lapse and gain weight, it takes a lot longer to lose.

Feel free to ask if you need any help.

    How are everyone else doing?

eleanor73 - well done on the loss and I hope that the wedding day is bright and sunny :)

pingufan - that amount of protein will put a strain on the kidneys and you need the veg for essential nuitrients. If you want to check get your GP to do a blood test or get some urinalysis sticks from Amazon and look for protein, blood and leucocytes as these are signs that the kidneys are being affected

Thanks Sheila. It's actually this month now April has begun! Scary! Hope the 5:2 is going well. I hope to look at overall weekly calorie deficit so to maintain my weight after the wedding and re-introduce healthy carbs. Lets hope I don't pile the weight back on.
